Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this beautifully restored 1982 BMW E21 320i. When the E21 debuted in 1976, it ushered in a new era for BMW as the first 3 series. Offering a more refined driving experience than the aging 2002, the E21 directed BMW's design language for the next two decades. Although relatively expensive in the U.S. market, the 320i was a sales success due to its excellent driving dynamics and build quality.

While is has become commonplace today to find 2002s that have been restored to a high level, it is much rarer to find an E21 that has been restored with such attention to detail. This example has been with the same owner for over 30 years. First it was a daily driver for many years, but he was so fond of the car that he embarked on a nut-and-bolt, no-expense-spared, photo-documented restoration to the highest standards. It now presents as factory fresh and is truly show / collector quality.

This BMW was stripped down and repainted in its original color of Hennarot, a red-orange not often seen on E21s - finish quality is excellent. The drivetrain was rebuilt front to back, the interior was refreshed top to bottom in correct materials, hardware was zinc plated, even details like the sunroof track and antenna hardware were thoughtfully addressed. The dash is perfect, the glass retains correct BMW markings, the tools are complete and restored. Every rubber, gasket and piece of trim was renewed. Because the car was stripped to a bare shell before paint, the engine bay and underside were able to be detailed to a like-new standard.

Under the hood, the stock, fuel injected 1.8 liter M10 engine was rebuilt - it starts easily and makes good power. The five-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and the car is comfortable at highway speeds. Five matching 13-inch alloy wheels are wearing Continental tires.

The time and detail that went into restoring this car is simply amazing - this is surely one of the nicest E21s available anywhere, and is a must have for the BMW collector or enthusiast.
