Vehicle Description

STUNNING 1934 CHEVROLET MASTER DELUXE

Restoration Rod

Original and restored metal body

Rare Beauty equipped for modern comfort

A rare beauty, an un-chopped 1934 Chevy Master Deluxe 4 door Sedan, suicide doors for rear passengers, that has seen a body off frame restoration and has been equipped with modern running gear. These type of restorations are referred to as Restoration-Rods because while the body and interior appear exactly as they would have in 1934 (save for the addition of the mini bar for the back seat), the rest of the car has been "upgraded" to more modern and conventional equipment. The engine is a small block Chevy 350 V-8, the transmission is a Chevy Hydro-Matic and the rear axle/differential is a Nissan TRUCK (done to keep the bolt pattern the same for the original wheels). Whats under the hood looks great and performs extremely well. In addition to the motor drive train upgrades, this automobile is now equipped with AIR CONDITIONING (ports in the front and in the back mini bar) and adjustable AIR SHOCKS in the rear. It has also recently seen a new CUSTOM BUILT ALUMINUM RADIATOR installed and the engine has been serviced, maintained and dressed up by a qualified mechanic very familiar with classic cars and hot rods...Additionally, the storage trunk on the back was added as a simple place to store things that you might not want in the car...like food, liquid or in the event of a wedding...a Bubble Machine.

The car was bought  through a dealer about 17 years ago from a limo service that had three of these cars restored with different color trim. There was blue, green and black. The cream and blue coloration looked best to me and had a more regal appearance. Originally the car would have been all one color. The two tone paint really sets the car off. The paint job is stellar. It appears to have been applied with MANY layers as it looks very thick. It has given me no problems.  Car has seen very little mileage per year since I took possession in 2004 and has seen rain only once or twice. Never driven in snow or on salted roads since I've owned it.

All chrome on the car was redone and for those collectors out there...the hood ornament is original. I believe that this was the only year that Chevy used the Gryphon as the hood decoration. It is a beautiful piece of art sitting atop the car which is simply a larger piece of art and reminder of AMERICAN labor and craft. To go along with the beautiful body and it's flowing style, the interior has been redone immaculately and FAR better than the original. Pictures say it best but I can say that it is without flaw or problems. As the pictures show the interior is vivid and colorful, maintaining original steering wheel and dashboard with all original and WORKING gauges. Seats were re-upholstered using original wood frames and wire support systems...they are very comfortable. The original clutch is still in the floorboard but it is connected to the brake pedal to keep the original interior look. The car is now an AUTOMATIC. The mini bar in the back features holders for two champagne or martini glasses, an ice bucket to hold ice and bottle, a remote-controlled CD player and 2 small vents for the air conditioning to reach the back seat quicker. I've had the car out on VERY HOT days and the engine performed flawlessly with the air conditioner system easily capable of keeping the interior VERY cool...to the point where I did not sweat while dressed in my Tuxedo.

As with all these early 30's cars, the front seat is kinda narrow but easily capable of transporting two people with comfort. The back seat is like sitting on your couch in your living room with ample space to stretch out your legs in comfort.

Driving this automobile garners a LOT of attention and you have to be a people person to own it... not minding talking about what it is or what year. People often can't believe that this is a Chevrolet...often asking if its a Rolls or something else. This era of automobile was the era of artists and each car is a work of art and unique unto itself. VERY FEW survive in original condition and most are chopped, painted wildly and turned into street rods that have their own beauty but nothing compared to this.

This car screams with a desire for fur coats, top hats, tails, cigarette holders, swing music, trips to fancy balls or restaurants and demands dignity, respect and elegance from its owner. It exudes class and sophistication from a bygone era and both driving and caring for it is a wonderful reminder or perhaps a romanticized recollection of a simpler and far more beautiful era.

This car is located in Abingdon, VA and is stored in a private, clean and DRY garage. It is available for your viewing with arrangements made before hand. It has been meticulously maintained and restored/ upgraded and it receives high praise at local car shows, parking lots and restaurants, and has several trophies. It is a money maker as well having served as a transport vehicle for bride and groom for more than a few weddings at a minimum of $400 per event. A more adventurous entrepreneur might make a living from the ownership of this car.

As stated before...I'm not a gear head but I will attempt to answer any question you might have about the car. Please feel free to ask.
