Only 14 miles since a body off the frame restoration. Everything
was apart and restored. It was upgraded with Vintage Air, disc
brakes and power steering. I think it is a very handsome body style
with several very cool features and great colors.
EXTERIOR: The body has no rust or damage. Its smooth clean metal
from the rockers to the roof. Everything fits very nicely. The
black paint is polished out like a mirror. The beige roof is also
like glass. The chrome trim looks like it's all been replated. The
stainless has been straightened and polished. Some of the cool
features I like are the rocket hood ornament, cool taillight trim
with "88" molded right in and futuramic is embossed in the side
moldings. Very good original glass, the wraparound windshield is
new. Weather strips were replaced.
INTERIOR: Beautifully restored original. The recushioned seats are
upholstered in genuine leather and pinstriped cloth. The door
panels are done to match. The dash area is repainted, the chrome
sparkles, gauges are clean. The steering wheel is gorgeous, it's
cool enough to hang in my office. There is a factory clock and a
retro stereo in the factory hole. The air conditioning controls are
neatly mounted under the dash. The headliner was replaced, it has a
day/night mirror.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is obvious the entire engine compartment was
disassembled and restored. The rocket motor was rebuilt and has a
4-barrel carburetor. It's painted the correct green and has the
cool rocket valve covers, original manifolds, air cleaner and glass
bowl filter. A new Vintage Air system was installed. It was
upgraded from a generator to an alternator and from 6 volt to 12
volt. It has a more modern power steering system. An electric fan
helps keep it running cool. The metal is smooth and painted a nice
semi gloss finish.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Big, clean metal trunk painted satin black.
Under the trunk lid and jamb are gloss black. New weatherstrip. The
battery was relocated to the trunk and has a billet hold down and a
disconnect switch.
UNDERSIDE: This is what sold me, the underside of this car looks
new. The body was off the frame for a thorough restoration. The
front end components were completely apart, rebuilt and detailed.
Looking up at the motor it is spotless. The starter was rebuilt.
The Hydramatic trans looks fresh. It was upgraded with swaybars
front and back. The brake system was completely restored and
upgraded with disc in front. The e-brake assembly is hooked up. It
has a custom dual exhaust with glass pack mufflers. The rear end
was apart, gone through and detailed. The fuel system was replaced-
tank, sending unit and lines. The bottom of the body has pristine
floors painted a smooth satin black. The body was reattached with
new bushings. It is detailed under here, even the nuts and bolts
look new.
Very handsome looking car. It's always been one of my favorites.
The quality is there, someone spent a lot of time and money. Now
you can enjoy it!
