GarageKeptMotors.) The Plymouth Duster is Mopar's underappreciated
mini muscle car -Hagerty Media, October 2020 Hagerty went on to
explain their view: Mopar built some of the loudest, gaudiest, most
cartoonish muscle cars of the '60s and '70s. They were perfect. You
couldn't ask more from a muscle car. Consequently, muscle car fans
have driven the prices for the hottest Mopars into the
stratosphere. Plymouth 'Cudas and Road Runner can demand six
figures when equipped with the right powertrain and color options.
Plymouth Dusters, on the other hand, are still attainable, even
when equipped with desirable powertrains. Sure, they didn't pack
440 or 426 power, but they also weighed less than the B-body Road
Runner and Satellite and make an excellent platform for a street or
strip car. As to the Duster 340, they added: From 1970€"73, the
Duster 340 offered up a potent small-block package with the same
high-revving power as the 'Cuda. Offered here is a beautifully
restored and respectfully upgraded 1971 Plymouth Duster 340 in
medium blue metallic-over-two-tone-blue vinyl. Showing 62,000 miles
(roughly 1,250 miles per year on average) on its odometer, the car
retains its original appearance, much of its factory-installed
equipment, and most original parts (including the steel factory
wheels) that were removed are included in the sale. The car's
exterior medium blue metallic paint is in exceptional condition,
professionally applied and uniformly glossy across the entire car.
A full Duster 340 graphics and striping package-including a large
340 Wedge hood decal and the cartoon Duster guy rear-deck
graphic--are perfectly applied. There is no mistaking this Duster
for anything but the street-performance muscle car it is. The
chrome trim, bumpers, and badging on the car are original and in
excellent condition; in the same way, cabin glass and lighting
lenses are clear and undamaged. Exterior racing-style mirrors with
black finish are mounted, as are aftermarket 17-inch chrome wheels
(with Cooper Zeon RS3-H high-performance tires), and chrome
dual-exhaust tips. Inside, the car's original interior is in place.
High-back front bucket seats and the rear bench seat are
upholstered in square-pattern two-tone blue vinyl and exhibit
near-perfect condition; there are no rips or tears. The
complementary shades of blue are particularly attractive. The
factory dashboard with woodgrain trim remains in place with added
instrumentation in the form of a steering-column-mounted Auto Meter
tachometer (with shift light) and a trio of auxiliary gauges added
below the dash, a look perfectly in keeping with modifications many
original owners would've made to their Duster back in the day. Also
added is a Panasonic audio head unit mounted in the factory radio
location. Medium-blue factory carpeting covers the cabin floors,
and the 4-speed manual transmission shifter is mounted on the
center-tunnel hump. Under the hood, the perfectly clean and orderly
engine bay is a Mopar fan's visual delight. The air cleaner cover
sports 340 Four Barrel identification and valve covers are Mopar
Performance branded. Auxiliary components are properly located;
hoses and red distributor wiring are neatly routed. The car's
original build tag remains in place. (A variety of the removed
engine parts can be seen in the photo gallery.) Viewed from below,
the car's chassis is exceptionally clean. Massive performance
headers, the full-length dual exhaust, su
