Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
The 1967-72 Chevrolet C/K is one of the most popular, reliable, and
easiest-to-drive classic pickups you can find. This particular
generation marks the turning point when Chevy realized it could
offer truck buyers modern conveniences and comfort options in the
same way it did sedan shoppers-a stunningly simple connection to
make in retrospect, but one that blew the market wide open during a
time when primary rival Ford steadfastly refusing to build anything
other than the most utilitarian models for work use.
As our consigner states, "This is a terrific truck...everything is
sorted out- just get in and drive!" And with all the serious
modifications performed on this customization effort, it is
definitely true. Now with a 383 stroker, Holley Terminator fuel
injection, highly tuned, and a lot of creature comforts which I
will expound upon in this rambling if you simply read on!!
Exterior
All steel all bathed in high end PPG blue with a clear coat, and
all looking fabulous! The original grille is on and in pristine
condition. This paves the way for the steel cowl hood complete with
a custom silver/gray marbleized almost wood textured looking accent
stripe on said cowl, and it is as smooth as glass. The spear on the
center of the hood remains in blue so it is even more stunning. As
we move rearward on either side, more straight blue painted steel
with well minded gaps, but some new black vinyl side moldings have
been added. These sport upper and lower chromed trimmings which
sandwich the black vinyl. Window trimmings are all looking nice and
shiny, and glass is new and tinted all around. The bed is covered
with a Retrax retractable tamboured bed cover in black and this is
nearly perfect. For the bed a spray on rhino lining for the bed
floor. The tailgate has more of the silver/gray marbleizing look
running across the top 1/3 of the gate. The rear bumper has been
shaved and a new roll pan fabricated. LED taillights and marker
lights are seen. 15 x 8 powder coated rally wheels with corvette
center caps and trim rings are noted on all 4 corners.
Interior
The customization never ceases to amaze this writer. Here we see,
with the swing of the doors late model high back black vinyl
buckets. These flank a custom built wide center console with a
cushy smooth black vinyl padded armrest/storage lid with cup
holders in the center. Also here is a T style B&M shifter. As
we move our attention to the dash, we note the original instrument
cluster panel in the textured black but with a new twist. A new
lineup of white faced Custom Classic Gauges. The cluster even
includes a clock in the center. Vintage air and heat are now
installed for those extra creature comforts and above all this is a
black padded vinyl dash topper. Front nicely is a chromed and
polished Flaming River tilt column, and it is topped by a Flaming
River rally wheel. This spins Classic Performance Parts (CPP from
here in) power steering, and we note power brakes are added in. On
either side are metal ribbed doors bathed in the matching blue
exterior paint and these have a black vinyl armrest in their
centers. Clean black carpeting covers the floors and red badged
bowtie floor mats protect the carpeting. Above is a body painted
metal ribbed roof headliner, pure stamped steel. Plenty of WOW
factors inside here.
Drivetrain
Lifting the hood using the billet Eddie Motorsports hinges, we are
in a land of all painted blue and buttoned up engine bay surrounds.
In the center sits the shining machined to perfection star in the
form of a consigner stated 383ci stroker V8. There are Edelbrock
aluminum heads covered in blue anodized aluminum valve covers
badged with 383 Stroker. On top is a brand-new Holley Terminator
EFI. A new distributor is also on as part and parcel to the
Terminator injection system. Painless wiring is now throughout, and
we can see ceramic coated headers which dive down under to meet a
custom side pipe exhaust with Pypes Mufflers on either side. On
back is a Mad Dog 700R4 transmission with a 12-bolt posi rear to
put the power to the pavement.
Undercarriage
In this very clean and rust-free environment a few highlights to
hit upon. First off, a CPP rear notched and powder coated frame. In
back are CPP 2-inch drop control arms and CPP shocks. In front more
CPP with power disc brakes, tubular A arms and HD sway bars in
front and rear. A new stainless steel rear mount gas tank is on.
All black and nicely painted with the shiny add ons. Beautiful
performance.
Drive-Ability
Slipping inside she fired right up and off to the test track we
went. Vintage air blowing cold, radio blasting, and the sound of
that stroker in the background all seemed right with the world at
that time. And it was for our test drive, where we had lightning
acceleration, smooth shifting, and a great ride for a pickup truck,
even with some good handling. All functions were up to snuff, and
we were looking good doing it!
A long list of upgrades and customizations put this particulate
C-10 in pretty much a class of its own. Wonderfully trimmed and
painted exterior. lined bed and a cover, new interior and a
powerful mill under the hood, like the consigner quoted in the
beginning..."This is a terrific truck-everything is sorted out-just
get in and drive". Does it get any easier than that??
