Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser
FJ40. This truck is definitely showing some patina, but aside from
some rust in the door bottoms, the body itself is remarkably solid
and free from the typical rot (cab corners, floors, rockers, etc.
are all original and solid). Originally yellow, this truck was
repainted in red at some point in the deep dark past and is now
presented in green with primer grey accents. Interior presents to a
driver standard with front bucket seats and rear jump seats in good
condition - a factory roll bar with three-point seat belts is
always nice to have.
Where this truck really shines is its service history. The current
enthusiast owner has invested tens of thousands over the last three
years in drivetrain and suspension maintenance and upgrades. Recent
work includes a new clutch, rebuilt carburetor, distributor and
alternator, rebuilt front and rear axles, wheel bearings, brake job
and more. It also has a slick dual battery setup plus a new DC
electric winch and an AC inverter for powering all manner of
devices in the field. Suspension is totally new with an OME lift
and BF Goodrich 33x12.50 all terrains on new alloy wheels. 2F
inline six mated to a four-speed manual transmission runs and
shifts well.
We rather like the fact that this truck is mechanically sorted and
able to be used as intended both on and off road - without having
to worry where you park it, leaving it out in the rain or getting a
scratch or dent on the trail. A reproduction 1977 owner's manual
plus stacks of receipts are included with the sale.
