California virgin car that was body off frame restored to new. We
have a photo album that documents this Bel Air before, during and
after the restoration. This is a real Bel Air restored back to
exactly how it was born. It is actually pretty amazing, you would
never guess it but this car was restored in 1978 and it looks like
it was recently done. It was a clean car, all in tact to start
with. We also have a copy of the $1,650 cashiers check that he paid
for the car.
EXTERIOR: We have pictures of the body being dipped at Redi-Strip.
Pictures also show the bare metal body with no rust or damage. It
could arguably be one of the best 1955 Chevy bodies in existence.
It is laser straight, I don't see any ripples top to bottom, All
the panels fit square and flush. I don't find any bubbles, cracks
or shrinkage. This is pretty amazing considering it was painted 43
years ago, I would say it has proven itself. The paint is still
polished beautifully to a very smooth glossy finish. It is
repainted it's original colors. The doors open and shut with ease.
The windows glide up and down. The stainless and chrome on the cars
looks practically new. It has California one piece bumpers and it
has the optional bumper guards. Other accessories include stone
shields on the front fenders, rocker moldings, dual mirrors, door
handle guards, fuel door trim and working reverse lights. The door
jambs are very nicely restored and the weatherstrips still look
new.
INTERIOR: Pictures show it gutted to a bare shell. The dry, clean
metal was prepped, primed and painted. The dash was reassembled,
the trim was replaced, the original AM radio was put back in. The
steering wheel is in excellent shape, the glove box liner is clean.
Overhead it still has the chrome ribs and the dome lights work. The
cushions in the seats feel firm and the upholstery fits without
wrinkles. Correct upholstery on the seats and door panels still
looks practically new. It has the correct tight loop carpet on the
floor. Under the dash is even restored.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original 265 V-8 motor with stock manifolds,
carb, air cleaner, glass fuel bowl and valve covers. It even has
correct codes on the distributor and generator. At the time of the
restoration everything in the engine bay was apart and restored.
The engine has recently been touched up with some Chevy orange. It
has an optional oil filter, yes oil filters were actually an
option. It has correct GM hoses and clamps. The core support, under
the hood and inner fenders are smooth clean metal with a semi-gloss
black finish
and under the hood to firewall is painted nicely to color the car
all the hardware hinges wiring appears to be in excellent condition
the trim tag matches the colors of the car
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: We also have pictures of the trunk compartment
stripped to bare, clean metal then primed and painted. It has a
correct rubber mats and replace the panel behind the seat and the
weather strip the white wall tire has never been on the ground the
rim is painted in the Jack assembly is restored is a jacking
instructions decal
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame for restoration. Photos show
it taken down to a bare, rust free frame. The chassis components
were completely rebuilt and detailed. The floors are clean metal
correctly repainted red oxide primer. It was kept original with
spiral shocks and correct single exhaust. The fuel system was
replaced. Bottom of the motor is clean, the Powerglide automatic
was rebuilt and the original rear end was redone.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
