This 1960 MGA 1600 is a beautiful blue roadster with terrific
details and impressive paperwork. It's the kind of driver's car
that's ideal when looking for one classic that you can collect,
drive, and just admire no matter if it's on the show field or under
the lights of your garage.
There are a few body styles out there that make you say "Wow!" from
the moment they come into view, and the MGA is in that very select
class. The correct Iris Blue paint was given a high quality respray
in 2015, and there was a large overall investment in the
restoration. That's how you get such a glossy presentation on such
well-done sheetmetal. So the sunlight loves to radiate off the body
as it showcases what makes the MGA an icon. It's in the long
flowing fenders that help create the low-cut doorline, the
aggressive rear fenders that kick up for the wheels, and the
unmistakably smooth European trunk (boot) design. There's shining
brightwork everywhere from the curvy chrome bumpers to the
windshield frame. Even the muffler and exhaust tip that
unmistakable look of bright quality. Plus, you'll love the true
sports car details, like the wide wheels with true knock-off hubs.
And the wire mesh grille is a race-inspired piece that gives this a
unique look.
The British have always excelled at color combinations, and this
interior proves it. The black is a tasteful but distinct contrast
to the exterior blue and dash. Plus, the blue piping on the seats
and armrest is a masterstroke of coordination. We have receipts
showing thousands $$$$ invested here in 2018, and so you have
supple leather upholstery, newer carpeting, and interesting
details, like the classic Motorola AM radio that's there for
display. This has the best of classic motoring with a banjo-style
sports steering wheel, clear British Jaeger gauges, and the crisp
action of the gearstick. It's true purist motoring that will have
you wanting to go for a drive on every sunny day. And if you do
ever get caught in the rain, the folding roof (also new in 2018)
and side curtains are much more substantial than previous modes to
keep you dry for the drive home.
Part of the collectability of this roadster has to do with its
motor. The 1600cc powerplant was an upgrade over the earlier
models, and this one is absolutely ready to be showcased. Glossy
red block paint and a shining valve cover sit at the heart of this
tidy engine bay. This has investments in classic pieces you love,
like the rebuilt dual carb setup. It also mixes in great modern
driving features, like high temp plug wires, new water pump, and an
electric fan on the radiator. It fires up eagerly from the pull of
the start knob. This MGA inspires driving confidence with new
brakes, front discs, and an overall solid feeling on the road. And
you are in firm control over it all with the four-speed manual
transmission.
The sale comes with one of the most comprehensive paperwork files
around. This includes the original bill of sale, warranty card, an
owner's manual, build receipts, maintenance records, restoration
photos, and the heritage certificate. There's even a best in class
award from the Old Ellsworth Brewing car show. It all goes to prove
this is one exceptional MGA. Call today!!!
