GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190
SL Roadster for purchase. The first offers of the SL class
simultaneously presented two grand touring roadsters. These cars
weren't just pretty faces they were technically brilliant as well
from their pioneering use of fuel injection to its independent rear
suspension. The 190 SL is more cruiser than the 300 SL, but they
share many of the iconic styling cues that turn every head on the
road. While the 190 SL popularity was extremely high, only a total
of 25,881 were built over a nine year production run. These cars
are very rare and a solid investment for a collector.
This 190SL had 3 previous Canadian owners of a combined 24 years.
It then made its way into the states and has been owned by Precious
Metal Restorations here in town where it was professionally,
completely restored and has less than 300 miles on it since the
restoration. During the restoration all the weld seams of the body
panels were sealed with lead as per factory original. The car is
refinished in its original color (DB534) Fire Engine Red. The
interior is new along with the soft top and is in excellent
condition.
It's powered by the rebuilt original numbers matching 1.9L inline 4
cylinder engine producing 105 horsepower and rebuilt original
4-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt by Oakville
Machine Shop in Oakville, Ontario which is a vintage Mercedes
Specialty shop. The car has its original heater boxes and retains
its original Solex carburetors that are in very good condition. The
car has a hard top but needs restoration and comes with the sale
but the buyer is responsible for shipping the hard top as we will
not be putting it on the car.
This roadster is in excellent condition and has loads of curb
appeal with classic style and an awesome color combination. It runs
and drives great to cruise anywhere. We hold all receipts,
