According to the Porsche Certificate, this 914-6 was delivered to
Competition Motors in Culver City, California. The 914-6 was
delivered on June 1, 1970, in Canary Yellow (2910) with Black
leatherette and a basketweave interior. Options include Finland
equipment, leather-covered steering wheel, fog lights, and forged
Fuch alloy 5.5" x 14" wheels. Finished in its factory color
combination with excellent gaps and panel fit. The paintwork is in
pristine condition with original glass and excellent chrome
bumpers. The Fuch alloy wheels have been professionally refinished
with new Vredestein Sprint Classic 185 HR 14 tires. The original
interior is in excellent condition with only one small hairline
crack in the original dash.
In late 2020, European Collectibles purchased this 914-6; it was
very straight and rust-free. The driveline was removed, and a full
repaint was performed to the original color Canary Yellow. After
the paintwork was completed, the body was reassembled using the
original hardware and factory trim. Mechanically, the top-end of
the engine was rebuilt, the flywheel was resurfaced, a new clutch
was installed, the shifter bushings were replaced, and the entire
braking system was refreshed. The transmission was rebuilt
including new synchro rings, 1st, and reverse shift sleeves, 1st
gear teeth, 2nd and 3rd operating sleeve along with new gaskets and
seals. The end result is an excellent running and driving 914-6
that has been cosmetically and mechanically restored as it left the
Porsche factory.
Mechanically powered by its matching number 2.0-liter Flat Six
engine with a 5-speed manual dogleg transmission. It drives amazing
with plenty of power, smooth shifting transmission, and four-wheel
disc brakes. Complete with a Certificate of Authenticity, spare
tire, and toolkit. The 914-6 is becoming is limited to find and few
of them are as well sorted and finished to this level.
History
The 914-6 was produced between 1970 to 1972 and utilized a
carbureted version of Porsche's six-cylinder engine. The suspension
was upgraded to better accommodate the increased output of 110 hp.
Porsche also produced 32 factory-built, race-prepped versions of
the 914-6 GT. Another 455 914-6s were either ordered with the
"Competition Option Group" GT package or were upfitted with a
factory kit.
