The Ford Galaxie was first released in 1959 by Ford Motor Company
and was their full-size car. This model was named primarily to play
off of the big "Space Race" that was going on between the Soviets
and the United States and although this may be part of their reason
for success, the model also proved to be a great buy and could be
found in many different price points. From 1960-1964 the same
platform was used with some styling changes but the 1963 model year
went essentially unchanged from the previous year with the
exception of some trim.
The 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 offered here for sale is powered by what
appears to be a 390 v8 paired with an automatic transmission. The
car spent much of its life in California and remains solid. It is
finished in black over a black interior. The seats have recently
been recently upholstered and the carpet is new. The headliner is
in excellent condition as well. The chrome and trim show some age
but are still very presentable the way they are. The Galaxie rides
on 235/55 tires on 17 inch aftermarket wheels. Other highlights
include AM/FM/Cassette player, owners manual and dash clock. This
is a very cool car to get in and drive or would make a good
candidate for any type of restoration you wanted to do.
