For Sale: 1978 Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Carey, Illinois

This is a magnificent condition 280CE finished in Yellow with Bamboo MB-tex interior. Sporting low mileage for its age this W123 coupe is simply stunning in all respects. It is without doubt a 10-out-of-10 driver car overall but could also be proudly taken to shows as-is. This is a super original car with all original body and interior. The car was an Arizona car its whole life and is a dry entirely rust free example in quite amazing condition. The underside is incredibly clean and all factory original. The body and paint is all original except for the hood which was repainted for light crazing. The rest of the paint is original, entirely consistent and maintains its full luster. New headlights and surrounds have been fitted along with grille and windshield seal. The interior is equally amazing with the MB-tex in top condition. The dash is also excellent with only very minor hairline cracks. Seats, head-liner, rear parcel shelf, door panels, arm-rests, console, wood finishes and carpets are in excellent shape. I can't help but think I am in the mid 1980s looking at this car in a Mercedes showroom. It's that good! The previous owner of some 10 years spent 1,000's of dollars getting all mechanicals basically up to new. All new springs, shock absorbers. suspension bushings, steering bushings and arms, fuel pump, accumulator, hoses... its all really quite impressive. I have taken many detailed photos of the underside to show all of this. I would estimate some $5-7,000 was spent. Tyres are brand new. The pictures also show just how clean and original the underside is. Needless to say, the car drives stupendously. Starts in a flash, idles smooth, drives off with plenty of power and changes gear smoothly and without lag. She brakes true and sure. You can drive it down the roughest of roads and it feels tight as a drum. None of the rattles, squeaks and bangs you get from tired examples. Under the hood, is like that of a 5 year old example. Not restored but simply in very impressive original condition. All features in the car work well -gauges, clock, instruments, radio, lights (inside and out) and comforts. The heater blows hot and the A/C ice cold. Is this 280CE perfect? No.... but it is very, very, VERY nice! It could easily be made into concourse quality if desired. I have driven this CE over last summer and was overwhelmed with compliments! The fun driving season is about the start again and after the winter we have all had, this girl is ripe and ready!
