I would change or do differently.... -Austin Smith commenting on
his customized 1958 Chevy Pickup in Street Trucks Magazine,
October, 2018 Mr. Smith's sentiment about his '58 Chevy pickup
certainly applies to the creator of the spectacular, professionally
customized example offered here. This truck is the result of
thousands of hours of applied engineering and artistic skill. In
fact, the truck is quite literally, rolling artwork. The
handcrafted pinstriping throughout the truck-inside and out-is
nothing short of spectacular. No written description can possibly
capture the full effect of seeing it in person. (Contact us for an
appointment to do just that.) Remarkable! is usually the first
reaction the truck sparks, with awesome, and stunning coming in
close behind. The exterior is painted in vibrant orange panels on a
crème background. Geometric shapes and the application of
brushstroke enhancements in yet more colors is mesmerizing; each
new glance reveals yet another master-painter's individualistic
touches. Every painted panel on the truck reveals its own layered
design touches; every view is a delight. Across the truck, the
finish is glossy, smooth, and free of damage. Original chrome work
has been restored to its original luster. Cabin glass and lighting
lenses-including the yellow-tinted lenses on the inner
headlight-are pristine. Chevrolet-branded chrome full-wheel covers
and wide-whitewall tires suit the custom look perfectly. The
truck's interior continues the full-custom theme, and the exquisite
attention to detail. Opening the doors reveals a custom,
copper-colored trim panel matched to the painted dash and cabin
walls, topped with orange artwork mimicking the exterior design.
The dash features perfectly restored switchgear and the
perfect-condition, v-shaped instrument cluster, fronted by a
two-tone steering wheel with crossed-flag center emblem. The chrome
automatic-transmission shifter is column-mounted. Beneath the dash
are fold-away controls for the Airlift adjustable suspension (its
perfect operation is shown at the end of the linked video). Leather
upholstery is cream-colored with horizontal panels in the trim
colors seen on the rest of the truck. Mocha-brown carpeting covers
the cabin floor. In the cargo bed (which has been elevated to allow
for the lowered suspension), the high-gloss wood floor panels are
separated by chrome rub strips (which appear to have never had
anything more than a soft cloth rubbed on them). Not surprisingly,
the tops of the rear fenders feature paint treatments similar to
the truck's exterior. Under the hood, the custom work continues.
The 5.3-liter V8, with its custom Vortec intake, high-flow air
induction, and aluminum radiator is center-stage in a pristine,
simplified engine bay. And, yes, there is more pinstriping here,
too. Viewed from below, the custom, full-length dual-exhaust system
is properly installed behind free-flow exhaust headers. Surfaces
are exceptionally clean and free of any damage from too-aggressive
driving. The added Airlift suspension system components can be seen
as well. The more than 135 high-definition photographs and the
accompanying link to a short walk-around-and-startup video
available at the GarageKeptMotors site accurately present the
condition of this beautifully customized '58 Chevy Pickup. That
