Vehicle Description
his is a most desirable chrome bumper era Silver Shadow in a
beautiful light blue metallic with off-white fine-lines to the body
waist-lines and hub-cap beauty rings. The Connolly interior is
finished in dove grey-blue Connolly hides with matching Wilton
floor rugs. The colour ensemble is very classic. Her condition is
so spectacular, she could take head-on most examples. This Silver
Shadow has been owned by a collector whose focus has only been very
fine examples. We were very fortunate to have acquired her during
the winter. This stunning example has recently been gone-through by
the Park-Ward Motors Museum - a leader in Rolls-Royce restoration
with over 40 years Rolls-Royce and Bentley experience. Indeed;
"Masters of the Art". The exterior presentation of this Silver
Shadow is exemplary. The body is exceptionally straight and the
paint is of an excellent high standard and finish. The car
underwent a same colour full respray some 10 years and the finish
is spectacular. This is without question a $25,000+ paint-job with
the car completely stripped including all windows out and new
rubbers. It now displays virtually no marks and anything you might
pick is so minor that the car retains a show-class quality finish.
Completely consistent, very shiny, deep-lustered and a glass like
"flat" finish that is to true Rolls-Royce standards. Fitments and
finishes are in excellent to flawless condition; chrome,
bright-work, glass, lights, lenses, handles, grille and badges. The
interior of the car is in stunning presentation. Being the very
early Silver Shadow she has the widely loved "Chippendale dash"
which offers a beautiful expanse of wood and a plethora of chrome
switchgear. And, of course, also because it is an early Shadow, she
has those beautiful picnic tables fitted to the back of the front
seats (standard fitment only only on 1966 & 1967). The African burl
walnut wood is spectacular. All the wood, dash, console, door
cappings and vanity mirrors are in excellent condition showing just
the right amount of patina but without any cracks or issues. There
are many close-up photographs to see how beautiful it is. The rest
of the interior is very clean and tidy and requires no attention.
The Connolly hide leather is superb. There are definitely no tears,
wear or unsightly scratches or marks and remain soft and supple.
The headliner is very clean and in perfect original condition. The
dash board and rear parcel shelf are factory excellent. Carpets are
clean and tidy and the trunk is pretty much flawless to perfect!
All interior features and functions are fully operational including
all electrics - seats, windows and gauges. The heater is hot and
A/C blowing icy cold. Being an early Shadow it has the very elegant
interior door handles that were sadly replaced in in 1968 to
accommodate new Federal safety standards. Mechanically, the car is
in superior condition and the presentation under the bonnet clearly
shows that. It has not been "done-up" for sale but maintained in
original condition which is very impressive for the age of the car.
The car has been recently serviced. All hydraulics and brakes have
been regularly serviced and recently inspected, pressure tested,
bled and working perfectly - all heights are correct - and there
are no outstanding matters requiring attention. A brand new set of
215/75 whitewall tyres, with plenty of tread, adorn each corner of
the car. As expected of a fine example, the car comes with its
correct jack, tools and operating manual. Showing 14,000 miles, the
mileage is not verifiable but the current condition makes it look
exactly that. *** I had a call from a previous owner after first
listing this Shadow who informed me the mileage is genuine. The car
was laid-up for some 30 years and when he took possession of the
car in 2002, it had 12,000 miles. I have no further evidence than
this anecdotal information so make your decisions accordingly, but
it appears this is a genuine 14,000
