Fitted with original 312ci V8, Fordomatic, air conditioning, power
steering, power brakes, chrome wire spoke wheels, 4-way power seat,
and factory soft top! Refinished in Fiesta Red over Black/White
interior! A solid, rust free car!
Introduced in 1955, Ford's Thunderbird was arguably a response to
Chevrolet's Corvette that dazzled the country in 1953. Although
instead on competing directly in the sports car market, Ford
instead strived to steal attention and launched the car in a new
niche category, the "Personal Luxury Car". These cars were, from
the beginning, intended not for practicality but rather for
function-follows-form touring. These buyers were wealthy and
demanded the style, options, and ease of drivability, all without
sacrifice to comfort or reliability. As a result, it was customary
to find cushioned rides and big V8 power plants, automatic
transmissions, and full power accessories as optional equipment.
None did this better than the original 1955-57 "Baby bird" that
remains a style icon from Ford 65 years later!
We are excited to offer this 1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
finished in a stunning shade of Fiesta Red complimented by
Black/White combination vinyl interior, with Black cloth soft top.
The car is powered by a completely rebuilt 312ci V8 and Fordomatic
automatic transmission, with factory appointed 3.70:1 rear axle
ratio. This car is fitted with great options such as Master Guide
power steering, Swift Sure power brakes, chrome Kelsey-Hayes style
wire spoke wheels, 4-way power seat, engine dress-up kit, modern
AM/FM/Cassette radio, heater/defrost, windshield washer, front
license plate bracket, and fender skirts! The car rides on Diamond
Back wide whitewall radial tires measuring 205/70R15 all
around.
This beautiful body-on restored 1956 Ford Thunderbird was finished
in approximately 2005 while residing in Arizona. The exterior
paint, chrome, and interior upholstery can all be described as
excellent. Beginning with a solid, rust free example, this T-Bird
was completely stripped with careful attention to detail for a
professionally executed color change from the original A-code Raven
Black to this striking version of Fiesta Red. Maintaining an
original look was the priority, and as a result, the car will
impress T-Bird enthusiasts while enabling the driver to enjoy the
convenience and benefits of an upgraded audio AM/FM/Cassette audio
system in the stock dash location as well as modern air
conditioning for summer cruising!
The engine bay is highly detailed with nearly every individual
component being restored prior to installation, all new wiring
harnesses, coolant hoses & clamps, completely new fuel system from
the stainless steel gas tank all the way to a upgraded Holley
465cfm carburetor, rebuilt heads for modern fuels, new engine
fluids & filters, drive belts, etc. Underneath, the frame remains
painted black and is complemented with new shocks, new brake
cylinders & shoes, parking brake cables, master cylinder & rebuild
booster, new steering assembly with rebuilt pump, and more! It will
come with a trunk mat and tire changing instructions on trunk lid,
but without the jack equipment. Otherwise, it is a very difficult
car to criticize in person and should sell quickly at this asking
