Vehicle Description
Ford Performance built 1965 Superformance Cobra! In in a class of
its own, this car was first assembled by the engineers at Ford
Motor Company to debut their new 347 stroker V8. The original Ford
Motor Company tag is still attached to the keys. After a number of
years of ownership by Ford Motor Company, the Cobra was acquired by
Chuck Watson of Watson Engineering, the man Ford trusted to build
the factory Cobra Jet race cars. It also looks great in the classic
blue paint with silver stripes. The interior is in impeccable
condition. The leather seats and dash are without blemishes or
cracks.
Under the hood, the build quality is immediately apparent. The
engineers at Ford Performance went the extra mile to debut their
engine in style. All of the wiring on this engine has been
correctly loomed, the engine bay is full of AN fittings and
stainless steel braided lines, and the underbody has fresh zinc
hardware everywhere. The stroker 347 V8 under the hood is sporting
Dynatek fuel-injected independent throttle bodies, basically every
Ford performance part available, and is cooled by a large, dual
core radiator. This is just a few of the many performance parts on
this Cobra. This powerhouse of an engine is linked up to a Tremec
T5 transmission that sends power to a Ford 8.8 IRS. Aluminum wheels
with genuine center locking hubs, wrapped in BF Goodrich tires make
sure all that power is put down on the tarmac. The original side
pipe exhausts have been removed, and a custom rear exit exhaust has
been installed. All it takes is one instance of burning your legs
on a side-pipe exhaust to know how practical this modification
is!
Carol Shelby was not interested in power alone; his designs
prioritise handling as well as horsepower. He would be proud of
what the Ford engineers achieved with this Superformance Cobra. Its
stellar handling is in part due to tubular upper and lower control
arms in the front and rear. The Cobra has been fitted with Bilstein
shocks and H&R coil springs, and handles great through the
corners. Wilwood four piston calipers and rotors are on all four
corners. All around this is a fun, exciting driving experience with
heritage that's unmatched by most other Superformance Cobras. The
only thing this vehicle needs is a new owner to turn the key!
