This Buick right here is one of the best, most desirable in the
world. A 1970 Stage-1 with the ultra rare 4-speed is extremely
sought after. Only 664 were made. This one has iron clad
documentation directly from Buick's records. Starting with a
California car, it underwent a meticulous body off frame rotisserie
restoration. Then it was rewarded with 399/400 points at a Buick GS
Nationals. Recently won an AACA senior national first prize and a
Grand National 1st place award. Extensive photos document the
restoration. The colors are incredible too.
What is a Stage-1? It was Buicks top performance package and
included the following over and above the GS 455:
Larger valves with heavier springs, rejetted carb, recurved
distributor, high lift cam, upgraded oiling system, high volume
fuel pump, HD cooling and a posi. The a/c cars came with 3.42
gears, non a/c cars have a 3.64 making them more desirable as a
muscle car.
EXTERIOR: The factory Seamist color is unique and beautiful, I've
heard so many compliments. We have photos of the body stripped down
to a bare metal shell. It still retains it's original metal. Time
was taken to make the body laser straight and all the body gaps fit
precisely. The paint was laid out evenly and the clear coat is
polished like glass. This paint is 13 years old now and it looks
like it was done yesterday. I did not find any cracks, bubbles or
shrinkage. The jambs are just as slick, even up by the hinges. The
white vinyl top looks great against the green. All of the bright
work was restored. The chrome was replated, stainless was
straightened and polished. Correct reproduction G60-15 Goodyear
Polyglass tires on mint condition GS mags. The glass is crystal
clear all around. The windows roll up effortlessly and are
perfectly aligned. All the weather strips and window seals were
replaced. It has correct T-3 headlights.
INTERIOR: The pearl white really compliments the paint. The inside
was completely gutted to a shell. Pictures show the original floors
with the factory 4 speed hole. It was Dynamatted under the carpet.
The dash was completely disassembled and restored. The gauges were
sent out and restored, chrome plastic trim was replated. The knobs,
vents, original radio, glovebox liner are all like new. It has
factory gauges and tachometer, also a deluxe wheel. New upholstery
on the seats and door panels. Headliner and visors were replaced.
Every thing from carpet to headliner was replaced, it all fits and
functions properly too.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The original motor was completely rebuilt, it
performs like new. It has correct casting codes, the block was
decked during rebuild. The carb, distributor and alternator #s are
all correct. Every component was restored and detailed to factory
standards. There is a reproduction Delco battery and spring clamp
cables. It features ram air, power steering and power brakes.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is like day one. The metal is pristine and it
has a very neat coat of spatter finish paint. The trunk mat,
weatherstrip, decals were replaced. The spare is a matching
reproduction tire, the jack is restored like new. The jambs and
under the trunk lid are painted slick as the outside. The trunk
light works.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame and flipped on a rotisserie.
The chassis was stripped down bare, prepped and powder coated. It
has the Rallye suspension which includes swaybars and boxed rear
control arms. Every part of the suspension and steering was
rebuilt. The brake system was completely restored. New lines,
hoses, e-brake assembly. The fuel system was completely replaced-
tank, straps, sending unit and lines. It has a new reproduction
exhaust system. Looking up at the motor it is still spotless. The
Muncie 4-speed has vin # matching this car. The trans and all it's
related parts are spotless. The rear end is original and dated to
this car. It is the most desirable 3.64 posi that came in non a/c
4-speed cars. The bottom of the car is restored to look factory
new. All the finishes are proper, it even has assembly stickers and
markings.
There is nothing to apologize for on this car. It is documented,
judged as practically perfect, it's not only rare but highly
desirable too. The new owner will be very proud and have no
regrets.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
