With fuel-injected V8 power and four-on-the-floor, this 1982 Jeep
CJ5 is a bit like the hot rod of classic CJs. And upgrades like the
vivid paint and polished wheels really play the part, too. But with
the tall stance and big winch up font, you know this never loses
that off-road attitude.
Bright purple paint and a chrome front end get this CJ noticed
immediately. But while this is bold, there's also a ton of function
here. For example, the bright 15-inch wheel upgrade and extra-tall
suspension lift combine to allow for an awesome set of Mickey
Thompson all-terrain tires. The intimidatingly beefy front bumper
is also a great place to mount the Warn winch. Big fender flares,
side step rails/rock guards, and a proper trailer hitch on the rear
also add to the style and substance total package. And while this
Jeep looks distinctive, nothing on it is too fancy or fragile to
get dirty, so nothing gets in the way of proper Jeep fun.
The interior continues the upgraded attitude. The Mastercraft seats
are always a welcomed addition, especially with the front buckets
that are great for off roading. They also installed a more
comprehensive roll cage. It adds safety and rigidity, and yet, it
never gets in the way of the newer soft top and doors. So this
feels like thoughtful packaging. And everything from the tilt
steering column to the upgraded AM/FM/CD head unit with stereo
speakers makes this a more comfortable classic.
Under the hood is the legendary AMC/Jeep 304 cubic-inch V8. While
it's already quite a robust powerhouse, this one does it better.
The upgrade to fuel injection means better power and consistency.
And the long tube headers add muscle to the motor and a nice bass
to the dual exhaust. It even has the right supporting components
like an electric fan and dual batteries. The four-speed manual
transmission gives you proper control over this upgraded
powerhouse. It's currently set up for rear wheel drive only. There
are most of the components present to return this to a 4x4 if you
so desire, but we kinda like the hot rod Jeep attitude this one
already has. And because this has been modified, it's unknown if
the odometer reflects the actual mileage. Power steering, power
brakes, and front discs are all there for an easier anytime driving
package.
This CJ5 has a robust style that looks cool on the street and
trail. So you know you want to grab this well-done custom Jeep.
