Vehicle Description
1936 Chevrolet 2 Door Coupe
"Mamma always said life is like a box of chocolates, you never know
what you are going to get!" In a way Classic Auto Mall works on the
same theory, in that one never knows what is coming through the
door, but most times its sweet!
For consignment a real sweet treat and a maroon and champagne
colored morsel. Very tasty looking and tastefully crafted from some
original metal and fiberglass parts, and custom with a hand
fashioned tail of this car complete with custom taillights, a
shaved bumper and of course those 15 inch Colorado Custom Wheels
wrapped in good all season rubber. It is just dripping with visual
flavor and all packaged up ready to be gifted to its new owner. All
in hot rod form this 36 is a head turner.
Exterior
Already starting with a gorgeous design, the builder of this car
decided to make some improvements, taking liberties with fiberglass
fenders, a shaved rear bumper, custom taillights, nerf bars, and
tri bar shiny chromed headlights hanging off of either side on the
cowled hood. Turn signals have been snuck in directly beside the
headlights, which very nicely compliments the long oval front
vertical ribbed grille. The radiator surround is bathed in maroon
which rises to the hood where the maroon tales over the top of the
car from the beltline upward. Below is a champagne metallic which
covers the curvaceous fenders, running board and lower doors.
Between the two colors, is a nicely curved airbrushed fade painted
spear which fades from the champagne to the maroon. Tinted glass is
reserved for the rear and side glass, and custom curved modern rear
view side mirrors are attached to both doors. To further sugar coat
this car, 15-inch Colorado Custom Wheels with curved spokes are
wrapped with 195/60R15's in front, and 31 x 18.00x15LT's on the
back. Even more foil wrapping is provided by dual tailpipes peeking
out from under the rear custom roll pan. Cherry!
Interior
Digging a bit deeper into our box we swing the doors and find gray
and black zig zag pattern upper door coverings in broadcloth, a
billet styled armrest/door pull and a shiny door actuator. Below is
more smooth gray vinyl with some stitched accenting panels. Moving
inside we see high backed buckets adorned with velour zig zag in
black and gray and smooth vinyl gray bolsters all bordered by some
gray piping throughout. A tasty faux black leather covered dash
front houses a trio of large round cream faced gauges all fronted
by a shiny drilled surfers cross styled rally wheel. Sitting atop
the dash is an aftermarket Sport-Comp tachometer for the world to
see what kind of RPMs you are turning. On the rounded inner roof is
a very tight and seamless fuzzy broadcloth headliner in very dark
gray. Black carpeting floods the floors and a B&M shifter is
noted in the center. Power windows and vent windows, cold R-134
Vintage air is in. A shout to the trunk which is all fixed up and
has a custom fabricated cover for the fuel cell that resides in the
center of the trunk. Suh-weeeet!
Drivetrain
With some cars we need to sugar coat the description to make it
sound better, but this car is fully enjoyed right out of the box.
Some of that enjoyment comes from the 350ci V8 engine now stuffed
under the cowled hood. It is all shiny and polished with neatly
organized wiring, ceramic coated headers, and an Edelbrock intake
grabbing fuel from a Holley 750cfm carburetor. On back is a turbo
350 automatic transmission. All beautifully appointed and even a
ceramic coated and smoothed chrome firewall is highly reflective of
exactly what this car is made from!
Undercarriage
No rust, just a perfectly painted and restored undercarriage
consisting of straight steel. Up front a Mustang II suspension is
now on and on back a 4 link with a coilover setup installed. On
back we see a Ford 9-inch pumpkin with 3.55 gears and a shortened
axle to accommodate these big rear tires. Power disc brakes are on
all 4 corners, and a Flowmaster exhaust is noted ending in dual
pipes out the rear.
Drive-Ability
Not unlike its candy references I've given it, this car is
difficult to only have 1 ...lap around the test track so I took
several and enjoyed the flavor of plenty of power, smooth as silk
shifting, and tasty handling. Driving this car is definitely a
sugar rush!
A beautiful job with all stones turned over on the restoration,
interior and power train. Excellent color combo, some yummy shaving
and frenching (antenna), nerf bars, Colorado Custom Wheels and
massive rear rubber, just reach in and sample all of it right here
in the hallowed halls of Classic Auto Mall. MMMM...MMMM Good!
