Vehicle Description
Wagons are red hot right now as they are getting more appreciation
on the classic car scene, and this 1965 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser
has all the popular pieces. It has a cool aged-in patina on the
outside. The interior has a vibrant look and upgrades like A/C. And
there's a nice power upgrade under the hood, too.
The reason why we like the love wagons from the 1960s is it
combines childhood nostalgia with plenty of cues from the muscle
car world, too. After all, the face of this Vista Cruiser is shared
with the first generation Olds 442. And the Cragar wheels and
redline tires play into this muscle car feeling, too. The wagon
body is a reminder of days when the whole family would pile in for
everything from ice cream runs to cross-country trips. Plus, this
one has a terrific patina that looks like mom and dad parked it in
the barn for 40 years after the last family visit to the Grand
Canyon. But as you look a little closer, the bright bumpers and
straight trim also signal just how clean and complete this aged-in
wagon really is.
The interior starts to show off how much work has really gone into
this wagon. Two rows of bright red seats feel fresh. These are
joined by more nice capering, a taut headliner, and smooth dash all
finished in red, too. And we especially love the Vista Cruiser's
hallmark roof windows that are awe-inspiring as today's panoramic
sunroofs. It's a vintage and detailed look, right down to the
working dome light. This also gives you the upgrades you really
want, like an auxiliary gauge trio and cold-blowing air
conditioning. There's plenty of room in the back for cargo, and
when you fold the second row, too, you've got the perfect machine
to securely haul everything from a weekend's worth of projects, to
the ultimate tailgate package.
The engine bay has a tidy look with a shining V8 at its heart. And
that motor holds a cool secret. It's Pontiac's 389 V8. It's the
same kind of engine that was making the GTO a legend in 1965. This
one even has an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock
intake for extra power. Plus, it's supported by good pieces, like a
serpentine belt system, newer brake booster, and an aluminum
radiator w/electric fan. The V8 fires up readily and makes a nice
rumble out of the dual exhaust. The three-speed automatic
transmission, power steering, and power brakes w/front discs round
out a great driving package.
The sale comes complete with the original warranty card, owner's
