This 1990 Pontiac Sunbird Convertible represents the kind of car we
don't get to see too often anymore. And more than just uniqueness,
this is a loaded turbocharged machine with a terrifically preserved
presentation. So it's great to get all of this together in a
value-priced package.
There's a nice gloss on this convertible that makes this drop-top
look ready for the sunshine. This red is the factory-correct color,
Torch Red! In fact, the whole car has a well-preserved survivor
style. That's because this was under the same owner's care from new
right up until 2020. Although exempt on the title, it is believed
that the odometer reflects the actual mileage based on the
autocheck history report (averaging about 2,400 miles annually.) So
while this one has had a few fun road trips in its lifetime, it
certainly shows much better than those that were daily drivers.
This is an upmarket LE trim, and so it loves to show off its
premium look in details like the white convertible top and matching
white pinstriping. It's also a turbo model, and the sporty style
comes through in places like the rear spoiler, black trim strip
that circles the mid-section, and Pontiac's unique 14-inch
alloys.
The interior is well-preserved, and because this was at the top end
of the Sunbird hierarchy, it comes loaded with the best features.
The high-back bucket seats are all-day comfortable, and the plush
velour is always going to be appreciated over vinyl on those days
when you hop in with shorts on. There's a grippy sports steering
wheel on a tilt column, and beyond that is a full set of readouts -
including tach w/boost gauge. It has nice factory features like
cruise control, power locks, and the premium AM/FM stereo with
separate cassette. Power windows and a power convertible top mean
you never have to leave the driver's seat when you want to open
this one up to the world. And the factory air conditioning has been
converted to cold-blowing R134a. So you can enjoy the top-down
experience even in the summertime.
The engine bay looks as correct and preserved as the rest of the
car. So it makes for a great way to showcase the bold red accenting
on the 2.0-liter turbocharged motor. It gives this Sunbird a touch
of the sporty side you want in a Pontiac. But more than just turbo
power, you'll like this for its all-around practicality. It's a
fuel-injected machine that fires up easily, and the three-speed
automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The turbo motor has a nice
home in a car like this with the Sunbird's light weight and nimble
driving. And power steering, power brakes w/front discs, and a rear
sway bar are great for all-around driving enjoyment.
Complete with owner's manual, this is a preserved and premium
convertible that is going to be a unique addition to any scene. So
if you love to be different and have the best features, call
