The K-program Type 930 Turbo was the most powerful of Porsche’s 911 series for 1989, equipped with a 3.3-liter engine developing 282 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 287 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm. This engine was fitted with DME engine management, a Lambda sensor, and catalytic converters to meet exhaust emission requirements. The transaxle was a modern G50 five-speed manual, the clutch was hydraulically assisted, and there were larger anti-roll bars of 22-millimeter diameter in front and 18 millimeters in the rear. Larger and thicker ventilated and cross-drilled brake rotors were fitted to bring the Turbo down from speed.
Menacing in “triple black” (black paint over black seats and a black headliner), this particular 1989 Turbo left the factory fitted with a long list of very desirable options, including an electric sunroof with wind deflector, limited-slip differential, electrically adjustable driver and passenger sport seats, a Blaupunkt Reno stereo system, and a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with a raised hub. It was sold new on June 30, 1989, by Heimrath Porsche in Scarborough, Ontario, to Peter Woo, of North York. Mr. Woo enjoyed the car until 1994, by which time it had accrued about 25,000 kilometers. The car’s warranty book indicates that the car was regularly serviced at Heimrath Porsche. The second owner and his family have since added an additional 25,000 kilometers, until the car was stored. The Turbo’s odometer read 51,293 kilometers (about 33,000 miles) when sold in 2015 at the RM Sothebys auction. The speedometer has since been changed out on the car and the car currently resides locally in Park City, Utah. We believe the current owner to be the third owner of the Porsche 930.
