It was not until 1996 that time ran out on the full size body on frame Ford Bronco, ending an 18 year run. Was it a short sighted decision? Well if you look at the collector/enthusiast market for these and all the full size 3-door SUV's and the way the best ones have surged well past $50,000 then you know the "smart" guys at Ford, GM and Dodge did not have a clue.
This final year Gen 5 Bronco has the desirable 5.8 liter (351 cubic inch) V8. This truck is original in just about every sense. It is what car guys call a true "survivor". Unmodified, unrestored and running like a champ; that is how you describe this '96 Bronco XLT.
This truck has spent time in Washington State, New Mexico and most recently Texas sparing it from concerning rust. It has a clean Carfax backing up the obvious, this truck has never been in an accident and is still sporting its original paint, body panels, bumpers, glass etc. Inside and out everything is in good working order: AC, gauges, windows, lights, seats, locks and cruise control. The factory stereo has been upgraded to a modern JVC.
Mechanically, the truck is in perfect running order. It starts right up, runs cool and has great power. It accelerates, steers and stops as it should. The 4-speed automatic shifts smoothly and the electronic overdrive can be turned off and on as designed. The pushbutton 4x4 transfer case works flawlessly and features Warn locking front hubs. It is obvious this rig has been well maintained with records showing it has been driven only sparingly over the last 5 years. Most recently steering links, bushings and suspension has been serviced including fresh front coils and Bilstein shocks front and rear. BF Goodrich All Terrains have lots of tread.
