Vehicle Description
From evil '60s Trans Am racers to Le Mans-winning GTs, the Ford
camp has always offered a full portfolio of unique cars and fabled
powertrains. And in the world of specialty pony cars, it doesn't
get much more powerful or exclusive than a 428 Eliminator. If you
can find a documented Cougar Eliminator that's been correctly
restored and has all the right hardware, you can get a righteous,
investment grade classic with a positive value curve that never
seems to end. And if you've ever dreamed of owning a rare pony car
that mixes a storied drivetrain with choice options and a solid
restoration, you've clicked the right link!
NO COMPETITION
The beneficiary of a professional, ground-up restoration that was
completed by the pros at Oxford, Michigan's Turn Key Automotive,
this slick cat features a correct layer of vivid Competition Green
two-stage that's highlighted by traditional Eliminator war paint.
Take one look down the sides of the car's stylish body and it
becomes obvious that great care was taken during its two year
transition from solid survivor to factory-fresh head turner. Step
closer to that body's glossy surfaces and check out sedate pigment
which, according to Marti Auto Works, was sprayed on just 18 1970
428/Auto Eliminators. Grab the pivotal pieces of that well-adjusted
sheetmetal and experience great fit that's right at home reflecting
a summertime car show. Then step back to admire one well-done
classic that celebrates over 50 years of all-American cool!
The top option for Mercury's already upscale Cougar, the Eliminator
backed proven Ford power with some of Dearborn's best styling. At
the leading edge of this slick coupe, a squared spoiler frames
ornate parking lamps, a bright bumper and a streamlined blackout
grille. At the top of that grille, classy Cougar emblems leads a
Satin Black scoop, which rams air toward fresh glass that's framed
in straight stainless, cleared with matte wipers and traced by
polished rails. At the sides of that glass, bold "ELIMINATOR"
callouts join traditional door handles and a body-matched sport
mirror to provide an aggressive yet finished appearance. And at the
back of the car, a tall wing shades sequential taillights, more
cool Cougar regalia and a second bright bumper.
COBRA JET POWER
Hoist the hood and you'll find 428 cubic inches of legendary Cobra
Jet V8 that twists an easy 409 horsepower into a quick 483 lb./ft.
of torque. The beneficiary of a professional rebuild that was
conducted by Dan Jensen of Pure Stock Drags, and fully documented
by Muscle Car Enthusiast Magazine, this storied Ford mill literally
maximizes every spec set forth by the Pure Stock Drags event. At
the top of the blue beast, an unassuming air cleaner shoots wind
through a big Holley carburetor. That carb rides a cast iron
intake, which feeds cast iron heads that hide healthy 11.28 to 1
compression under aluminum valve covers and an Autolite breather.
That compression is created by a factory crank, which spins steel
rods and forged pistons under a mild custom-grind cam. Spark is
supplied by a hot Pertronix distributor and predictable Autolite
Radio Resistance plug wires. Oiling is enhanced by enlarged
passages and a high volume pump. Exhaust exits through factory Ford
manifolds. And cooling is, likewise, a full factory affair.
COUGAR-LIKE REFLEXES
Take a look under this awesome Merc and you'll find clean, Satin
Black floors that are solid, sorted and ready to roll! Just aft of
the legendary V8, a correct Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission
spins a tough 9-inch axle. A factory-spec suspension centers
correct, optional power steering between correct, optional power
front disc and rear drum brakes. In the middle of the car,
aluminized, true-dual exhaust funnels spent gases through an
X-shaped crossover and throaty Pypes mufflers. And at the edges of
the car, power meets pavement through correct Argent wheels and
F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas Custom Wide Treads.
COMPETITION GREEN AND BLACK HOUNDSTOOTH!
Between the doors, a correct Decor Group interior features correct
Hi-Back vinyl seats that, in honor of their timeless assembly line
appearance, have been fitted with stylish Black Houndstooth
upholstery. In front of those buckets, a symmetrical dash founds
rebuilt factory telemetry next correct Selectaire climate control
and modern, direct-fit audio. An optional console floats a
traditional, cat-branded shifter opposite pick-free side panels and
correct deluxe seatbelts. And the driver spins an ornate,
wood-trimmed steering wheel.
As one of Dearborn's coolest combinations of performance and style,
well-restored Eliminators present excellent opportunity for savvy
investors. That opportunity is substantially increased when the
car's history and authenticity are so thoroughly documented. Mixing
a correct restoration with a strip scorching drivetrain, this
incredible coupe is an ideal candidate for rounding out any serious
collection. Call, click or visit https://www.RKMotors.com for more
