The Pontiac Firebird was a classic from the start and these early
cars are considered some of the sexiest and most desirable
generation. In 1968 there were some nice changes from previous year
with the Pontiac logo added to each side, single windows were
installed and the vent windows removed, and added wrap around turn
signals for the front. The convertible was still a rare setup and
very few were produced compared to the numbers total produced.
We are pleased to bring to market this very clean and highly
documented 1968 Pontiac Firebird Sprint convertible with the rare
3spd manual on the floor. Vehicle was sold new out of Willison
Motor Company in New Lexington Ohio. According to previous owner
and his research this is just 1 of 657 Firebird Sprint Convertibles
with the 3spd manual. Vehicle was finely optioned with the
following factory options; Firebird Sprint ($116.16), manual
antenna ($9.48) push button radio ($61.09), dual-horns ($4.21),
hood mounted tachometer ($63.19), rally gauge cluster ($31.60),
rally II wheels ($84.26), custom sports steering wheel ($45.29),
power steering ($94.79), soft ray glass ($30.54), and brake pedal
trim package ($5.27) - grand total MSRP of $3,587.88. This was
optioned very well and allows this car to really stand out from
anything else on the market. Vehicle has the Quadra-jet carb setup,
split exhaust manifold and 3.55 posi rear end.
The setup and overall condition of this Firebird is very nice and
show quality with great lines, pristine paint and very clean and
proper interior. The engine bay is very well sorted and represents
the car properly with clear evidence that this car has been loved
and thoroughly cared for. In 2017 previous owner spent almost $5k
in engine work that included; degrease engine block, grind
crankshaft, rebore and hone cylinders, refit piston wrist pins,
rebuild head, resurface head install camshaft and install freeze
plugs. Hood tach was also rebuilt and refaced along with
calibration to the car. Classic Auto Air was installed in 2019 and
rebuilt suspension.
Our test drive revealed a spirited Firebird with great looks,
operation top, properly functioning gauges and smooth shifting and
performance. This is a golden opportunity to get into a classic
muscle car without a huge investment and be proud of attending any
local or regional car show and confident to take home a trophy.
Vehicle comes with PHS documents, original MSRP, build sheet,
owner's manual, receipts, wiring diagram and two manuals.
