lead the way for the performance savvy buyer with revisions in 1969
to include slight changes to the front grill and rear taillights.
The covered headlamps remained optional still wrapped inside the
Endura urethane bumper. The side windows lost the vents, and the
bodyside marker lamps were now shaped to mimic the Pontiac
Arrowhead emblem. Overall, the GTO once again proved to be dominant
both on the strip and at stoplights, and today continue to

Built new at the Arlington, TX production plant, this GTO delivered
new from Paul Winn Motor Co. located in Hamilton, TX in October
1968. While its early ownership history is unknown, it would later
make its way to a Pontiac collector in Columbus, NJ in 2004 with
what appears to be all original sheet metal & floors, who would
then perform a beautiful mechanical & cosmetic restoration soon
afterward. This included a repaint of the exterior, new interior
upholstery, body weather stripping, suspension components, exhaust
system, fuel system, and fully rebuilt engine by specialist Fonse
Performance in Erial, NJ. They would completely disassemble and
inspect the engine before a comprehensive overhaul to stock
specifications. The block was cleaned, magnafluxed, & decked, with
the cylinder walls bored & line honed. It would then receive new
freeze plugs, cam bearings, machined original crankshaft rod & main
journals, new rod & main bearings, Sealed Power cast aluminum
pistons with Hastings moly rings, reconditioned connecting rods,
Melling double row timing gear set, and rebuilt heads. The heads
received a standard angle rebuild with new intake & exhaust valves,
valve springs, retainers & locks, rocker arm studs, and valve
seats. All remaining engine components to bring it back to life
utilize original GM period components including hoses & tower
clamps, new plugs and wires, factory intake with newer Edelbrock
carburetor, factory exhaust manifolds, new fuel tank, fuel lines,
fuel pump, etc. The transmission was replaced with a rebuilt later
generation GM turbo-Hydramatic 400 unit and a new dual exhaust
system added an X-pipe for better flow. It remains in excellent
running condition since completion in December 2004. Everything was
nicely detailed throughout with part stickers and inspection
markings for added show touch. It would trade hands one time in
September 2017 to new owners in Springfield, Missouri who would add
minimal miles to the odometer during the short Midwest driving
season.
Upon acquisition by the St. Louis Car Museum, our expert team
completely serviced the car to ensure it was properly prepared for
road use this Spring. This included new engine fluids & filters,
fresh battery, flushed brake system after new brake master cylinder
installed, rear brake cylinders and hose, new AC Delco front and
rear shocks, and engine temp sending unit. The Rally II wheels,
redline tires, trim rings, and center caps are all brand new. Our
upholstery department meticulously replaced the Cordova top and
hard to find trim that was absent upon arrival. We truly could not
be more pleased with the overall car and its performance! All
aspects of this GTO are remarkably tight, with smooth power from
the engine and transmission. Included with the car will be PHS
documentation, complete Rally II spare tire with jack tools, tire
cover and trunk mat, as well as receipt documentation of the engine
overhaul. A very nicely equipped example, especially in such
original condition!
