#s matching and documented with original tank sticker and
protect-o-plate. The p-o-p has the exact motor, trans and rear end
codes that match the car. It was sold new at Beatty Chevy in
Knoxville TN Jan 10th 1968.
EXTERIOR: Rare factory color- International Blue. It was upgraded
at some point with an L-88 hood. Of course the t-tops and the back
window are removable and fit behind the seats. The body is actually
in excellent condition. The more I looked the more impressed I
became. I don't see any signs of damage, everything fits
beautifully. The paint is very smooth and glossy, the metal flake
is laid out evenly. The door jambs are painted smooth and glossy.
New weather strips. Upfront the chrome looks like new. The bumpers
and grills fit nicely, it has the weather shields protecting the
headlights. Good indications it wasn't hit in front. The emblems
and door handles look new. In back the bumpers sit level and are
rechromed. The taillights and licence plate frame also look new.
The trim on the 15x8 rally wheels sparkle like new.
INTERIOR: It is restored very nicely inside. The seats feel like
they have new cushions, the upholstery looks new. Carpet has been
replaced from front to back, the door panels look brand new, dash
pad and center console have been replaced. The heater control bezel
is original. The gauges are all clean, nothing is cut or broken. It
has the original Am-Fm radio. There are no cracks in the steering
wheel, it looks like new.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: #s matching 427-400 hp tri-power. The casting
dates line up and casting #s are unique to a 427 only. The stamp
looks original with broach marks, the vin matches the car and the
dates and codes are correct. Correct #s on the distributor, exhaust
manifolds, intake manifold and carburetors. The carburetors look
fresh. The vacuum actuators looks new. It has stainless braided
plug wires and ignition shielding. The original tri power air
cleaner is included. The air cleaner being used was adapted to this
hood for functional cowl induction.
UNDERSIDE: Under this car is much cleaner then most. It isn't brand
new but you can tell it has been gone through. The front end has
clean components. Looking up at the motor it is clean. The Muncie
M-20 4-speed is original, #s matching. It has it's original 3.55
posi. The codes match the p-o-p, designated for a 427. The
fiberglass floors are very clean, the spare tire carrier is in
place. The frame is exceptionally clean, painted a smooth semi
gloss black.
Honest impression: The car is actually very impressive in a lot of
ways. The body, interior, chrome, paint and underside condition is
exceptional. The wiper door molding should be repainted which is
minor. To return it back to stock you would need to replace the
hood and put original air cleaner back on. Minor issues considering
it's a #s matching, documented 427 tri-power!
