The investment in this body reminds us instantly why we all love
the rounded curves of the 1940s Fords. There are frenched
headlights, frenched taillights, expertly eliminated door handles,
louvered hood, deleted trim, and an overall sleek style than stock.
But even with this streamlined style, all the right elements are
still in place for a great vintage look. After all, the bumpers
shine like mirrors and the three-bar grille is iconic. And the
polished wheels have a 14/15 inch front/rear stance to both the
shine and sportiness of this coupe. It's all wrapped in a vibrant
red that also has custom pinstriping front and rear to make sure
this one can impress both from blocks away and when people get
up-close.
This was built for a roadster style that is open to the world, and
so the tweed cloth interior really keeps this one practical on
sunny days. In fact, while you will see stylish elements (did you
see how the pinstriping returned on the dash?) you can also tell
they really kept comfort in mind with this custom. That's why you
have features like an AM/FM/CD stereo and cold-blowing R134a air
conditioning. As a true cruiser, the driver has terrific upgrades,
like a banjo-style sports steering wheel, a tilt steering column,
and full auxiliary gauge package. Plus, the power steering and a
three-speed automatic transmission make driving easy.
The engine bay is also part of this full custom setup. You have
color-matched inner walls, a color-matched block, and a
color-matched air grabber with custom pinstriping. This level of
detail really shows this was a thoughtful build. More than just
look great, you have serious power in there with a 350 cubic-inch
ZZ4 performance crate V8. There's also an Edelbrock four-barrel
carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and headers feeding the dual exhaust.
As you look underneath, you'll also see terrific upgrades like the
Mustang II-style independent front end, Ford 9-inch rear, and
four-wheel power disc brakes.
