Corvette Museum Offered here is a 40th Anniversary ZL1 Corvette
6-speed manual Coupe in the only color offered from the factory:
ruby red over ruby red leather. It is one of just 245 ever made.
Ordering this car equipped as it is with virtually every available
option meant its original and only owner put down nearly double the
price of a base 1993 Corvette. To say these are special cars is
understatement. The folks at the Corvette Museum waxed eloquent:
Corvette ZR-1 is an all-'rounder. Consider content, ZR-1 is not
'back to basics'- you get ABS traction control, an airbag...the
essential technology in any 1990's era sports car. Everything on
the Corvette option list except for the transparent roof panel is
standard in ZR-1. You enjoy a world-class stereo with a compact
disc player, and a cassette tape player, the luxury of power
six-way sport seats with leather seating surfaces, air conditioning
and power windows. The LT5 V8 is amplified by a smooth-shifting
six-speed manual transmission, a tuned four-wheel independent
suspension with Selective Ride Control, and extra-wide Eagle GS-C
rear tires designed to put LT5 power to the pavement. Those tires
necessitate the uniquely flared read bodywork that has become a
ZR-1 signature. It is a not-too-subtle sign that tells the
cognoscente you're driving an exclusive member of the Corvette
family. The condition of this 40thAnniversary Corvette Coupe is
literally as-new. Showing a mere 7,500 miles-roughly 420 miles
per-year on average-the car's every surface, from exterior paint to
interior leather, even including the graphics on the instruments
and switchgear retains the look and feel of a brand new automobile.
The meticulous care bestowed on the car by its only owner is
evident throughout. Outside, the 40th Anniversary emblems are
perfect, aluminum staggered-width wheels (and original tires) are
unmarked, original glass (including the roof panels) and lighting
lenses show no wear. Inside, the bespoke ruby-red leather on the
sport seats (and the embroidery on their headrests), the instrument
lighting, the carpeting and door panels, the console-mounted
6-speed shifter all retain the appearance and condition they had
when the car left the Bowling Green assembly plant. Every gauge,
feature, and option functions as it should. Investment grade is an
accurate descriptor for the car. Under the clamshell hood, the
405-horsepower, 32-valve, 5.7-liter, big-black, Corvette-branded V8
is itself a work of engineering art. Again from the Corvette
Museum: Specifications of this LT5 V8 are legendary; all-aluminum
construction, four overhead camshafts, Multi-Port Fuel Injection
with a 16-runner inlet manifold and two Multec injectors per
cylinder. There is no distributor; ignition is via a four-coil
'direct-fire' system. The result is totally uncompromised high
performance. But the intriguing aspect of the LT5 engine is its
ability to combine high-RPM power with a smooth, refined
around-town attitude. Like every other aspect of the car, the
engine bay is spotless and in factory condition. In much
