For Sale: 1972 Dodge Challenger in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

It only takes one glance to see that this 1972 Dodge Challenger Restomod is a serious custom machine. After all, the factory never made it this bright or slick. But while the paint radiates, so does the big power inside. With a six-speed sequential gearbox, race-ready interior, upgraded suspension, and an Ernie Elliott 440 V8, this was built to bring some serious muscle to the streets.

The story we're told is that this has only about 1k miles on it since it's full restoration. Just looking down the bright, shiny flanks of this Challenger, you can see that the money was spent wisely. Panel fit and body gaps show an attention to quality, which makes for the best canvas around. So the silver paint looks like it was applied over truly precious metal. The shine gives extra definition to the full-length body crease, and so it gives this coupe a true look that's equal parts fast and class. It's nicely detailed with the black hood stripe coordinating with the rear spoiler. And Mopar fans will pick up on subtle details, like how this one has the front end of the '71 car so that the chrome bumper hugs the form better. Other upgrades are more obvious and hint at the big upgrades in power. So those modern alloys allow you to fit modern sport tires, and the larger power bulge in the hood let's everyone know there's a beast within.

The interior continues to tell everyone it's serious about performance. Those modern Viper sports seats up front keep you planted far better than anything that came out of the '70s, and the four-point harnesses are there to tell you this Mopar is the real deal. The belts connect into the roll cage that adds real strength as it extends all the way into the trunk. This has fundamentals, like the door panels and carpeting. There are even cool classic details, like the Mopar sports steering wheel. But with the upgraded XTRAC sports shifter and dominating glow of the Spek Pro gauges, you absolutely know this is a restomod.

With so few miles on the build, even the clean and mean presentation of the motor really showcases the freshness. This is a legendary 440 cubic-inch V8, and this one was built by the masters at Ernie Elliott, Inc. Oh yes, this one has a true NASCAR pedigree, and the build even utilizes an R5 aluminum racing block. It also has a Holley 850 CFM four-barrel carburetor, high-rise intake, steel braided lines, AN fittings, dual Crane ignition boxes, dry sump oil system, and a C&R racing radiator. Long tube headers add even more power before feeding into an H-pipe dual exhaust with Borla mufflers. The XTRAC sequential six-speed gearbox is a true race-ready piece, and even includes a Tilton five-disc carbon clutch and Quick Time bellhousing. This feeds a Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft on its way to the Speedway Engineering floating Ford 9-inch 5.00 rear with TruTrac differential. As you look at the undercarriage photos, you're going to see a serious investment in the suspension with a reinforced tubular front end, thick Schroeder sway bar, and Hyperco rear composite rear leaf springs. Add in power steering, modern ZR-rated tires, and four-wheel disc brakes, and you know this restomod knows how to bring its power to the streets.

The sale comes complete with plenty of built receipts documenting this Dodge's big power transformation. Many dream about a classic like this, but only one will get it. So if you want it to be you, hurry and call now!
