Vehicle Description
This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible is an ideal classic. It's
coming off of long-term ownership that has given this the right mix
of preservation and investments. That means a sleek color combo,
cold-blowing A/C interior, and a strong V8 that has hardly any
miles on it since being rebuilt.
This car has spent over two-thirds of its life so far under the
care of the same person. In fact, with less than 82k miles on the
odometer, this first-gen Firebird has a lower odometer than many
final-year Firebirds we see. That's the sign of a cherished
machine. Other telltale marks of respect show in the overall
condition of the car. Panels were replaced with proper pieces;
there was a quality respray of the factory-correct red; and this
has led a garage-kept life. More than just history, you want this
one for what it represents today. It has all the right aggressive
pieces such as twin hood scoops and Rally II wheels. And there's
something unmistakably alluring of Pontiac's special design with
the beak-like front bumper that integrates into the full front
end.
The white convertible top looks terrific against the red to give
you the All-American look of a Coca-Cola bottle. And with the flip
of a switch, it powers down to reveal a whole new personality.
After all, red exterior with black interiors have a great muscle
car vibe. And just like the outside, there have been the right
investments in care. The fundamentals look good, including the
seats, door panels, and dash. This one likes to keep a proper
vintage presentation, and so you have some cool details like the
working clock and Delco AM/FM radio. Plus, the factory heater
controls now deliver cold-blowing R-134A air conditioning. And it's
a true driver's machine with the wood-rimmed steering wheel,
desirable tilt column, and bright shifter in the woodgrain center
console.
The engine bay has a very stock look, but it's quite a bit tidier
than you would expect from a 1968 car. That's because you're
looking at a rebuilt motor using a proper 400 cubic-inch block. So
you get pedigree and freshness in one. It's a nice setup that's
bored .30 over, upgraded to a mild cam, built with high-compression
pistons, and topped with a four-barrel carburetor. It makes for a
strong-running V8 that makes a sweet tune out of the dual exhaust.
And because this is the kind of convertible you'll want to really
enjoy, it comes with good driving features, including a three-speed
automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes.
The sale comes with terrific paperwork like the factory buildsheet,
owner's manual, maintenance records, build receipts, restoration
photos, and PHS Documentation. It all makes for a classic drop-top
that has the care and features you want when looking to put a
special car in your garage. Call now!
