Vehicle Description
One of the most collectible trucks there is. Local senior owner and
former Chevrolet employee bought this truck in 1986 from a Modesto
contractor. Never taken off-road. The 700R automatic has all the
factory upgrades that solved the lubrication issues that plagued
the '86 and earlier units - and more; it's basically been built to
race standards with a shift kit and a tranny cooler by a noted drag
racer making this truck an excellent boat tow vehicle. Other
significant upgrades: steering box was rewelded onto a 1-inch steel
plate new original dual 16 gallon gas tanks remounted new radiator
both differentials rebuilt Pro Comp shocks brakes bearings frame
rewelded where stressed Flowmaster exhaust and a high-velocity
catalytic converter. This truck is located here in Groveland -
"Gateway to Yosemite."Thoroughly redesigned from stem to stern the
all-new third generation C10/K10 trucks for 1973 proved to be the
longest-lived series in Chevrolet's history and the three-box
styling has proved quite popular since. The most sought-after are
the 1973-1978 model years. Aside from wheels and hubcaps there
really wasn't much that was round anywhere in the design other than
the body sides that featured a sculpted character line with a
central plateau panel as well as curved side glass a first on a GM
truck. Trim lines were also revamped ranging from the entry-level
Custom to the Custom Deluxe Cheyenne and top-end Cheyenne Super.
They were shuffled for 1975 with the Scottsdale moniker replacing
the Cheyenne Super as the top-of-the-line package while the Custom
series was deleted. The next year Chevy was back up to four trim
lines with the addition of the Silverado at the top of the series.
By and large this remained the trim hierarchy for the remainder of
series production.Note: the photos were taken between rain storms
and nothing was cleaned; any minor flaws like a dent in the left
rear fender wheel imperfections tailgate paint chips detailing etc.
