Vehicle Description
West Coast Classics are proud to present a beautiful example of
this rare 1971 Fiat Spider 850 by Bertone Spider Convertible with
the later models upgraded 903cc engine with a 4 speed manual
transmission! The Fiat 850 Coupe and Spyder were produced between
the years 1965-74. The car sported a rear engine 850 which donated
its floor-plan, drivetrain and all independent suspension to a neat
little Fiat designed four seat fastback coupe or a Bertone bodied
two seater roadster such as this particular example. Both models
proved quite popular in the U.S, particularly the Spyder, which was
seen as the Italian entry into the sports market to compete with
the other European imports from the U.K. such as the British
Triumphs and MG's. The engine size was increased in 1969 to 903cc.
These cars are notable for being the last of Fiat's rear engine
sports models. This is a very original and rust free car and a very
fine example of a 1971 Fiat 850 Spyder Roadster which has been
repainted in a striking 'Red' color at some point in the past and
which has only very minor imperfections or flaws in the paintwork
and it's all stock and unrestored original Black color seats
interior and soft top. The engine is extremely strong and
responsive and the rare and the 4 speed manual transmission shifts
smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always
remains cool. We understand that the car has been mechanically
restored as required over the last few years and since recently
acquiring the car we have had the car inspected at our local
European specialists who have given the car a clean bill of health.
There are no signs of any accidents or rust. This is a rare
opportunity to own a very rare rust and accident free and
internationally desirable 1971 Fiat 850 Spyder Convertible!
