Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette
split-window for your consideration! This Vet comes in a red
exterior paint and Black vinyl interior. Powering this iconic
vehicle is a 327ci V8 crate motor mated to a 4-speed manual
transmission. This Split window was ordered new Montgomery Chevy in
Louisville. 1963 Corvette Coupes are affectionately nicknamed
"Split Windows" after the divided rear window that was eye-catching
but also controversial. GM Head Designer Bill Mitchell fought
Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov for the inclusion of the
feature. After the 1963 model year, the GM executives sided with
Duntov and the Split Window was just a one-year happening. The
distinction of this rare look, and the birth of the stingray causes
Split Windows to be one of the most highly sought after American
collector cars. Please call or email us today for more
information.
The Corvette launched its 2nd generation with the birth of the
Stingray with a complete redesign barely resembling its
predecessors. The Stingray was lighter, had independent suspension,
and was aerodynamically tested. The only American cars that could
produce similar speed were large, heavy Super Stock optioned Mopars
and Super Duty Pontiacs. For the first time, the United States had
mass-produced a true all-around sports car.
