Vehicle Description
1990 Ford Taurus SHO
The Ford Taurus SHO, (Super High Output), was the high-performance
variant of the Ford Taurus. It was originally produced by Ford from
1988 until 1999. It returned in 2009 for the 2010 model year. The
SHO, (originally spoken as individual letters, as of 2010,
pronounced "show"), was built by the same team that produced the
Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. It was originally created as a limited
production model for 1989. However, the car proved to be very
popular and sold 15,519 units in its first model year, leading Ford
to order more engines and begin series production. The SHO would go
on to be produced for ten years in three generations, totaling
106,465 vehicles as of late 1999.
For consignment a 1990 Taurus SHO. Presenting very clean and well
maintained, full leather interior and plenty of get up and go!
Exterior
Electric Red Clearcoat Metallic bathes the combination of neoprene
crash bumpers and straight steel. A few areas of chipping off and
wear through are noted particularly on the rockers. Black trimmings
add some contrast in the window surrounds and body trimmings.
Keypad code entry provides interior access and a sunroof is showing
in the top. Standard Ford wheel covers are seen on all 4
corners.
Interior
Plenty of black leather is covering the seating and other surfaces
in the inside of this sports sedan. Big puffy buckets in black
leather have multiple electric seat adjustment buttons that can get
things just right for the driver and passenger baby bear. A center
console houses the manual shift lever and has a storage
compartment. The original dash is upfront and showing clean. Black
carpeting for the floors and a black headliner is tightly adhered
to the roof of this interior.
Drivetrain
A flip of the hood, and in a clean and unrestored engine bay sits
the power plant that gives this car its moniker, (SHO), which is a
Yamaha 3.0 liter V6 that has EFI and can pump out 220hp. On the
back is an MTX IV 5-speed manual transmission and a 3.74 final
drive.
Undercarriage
Slight patina, some road dirt and light surface rust are seen
underneath. Floor Pans and unibody are rust free and totally
structurally sound. The stock exhaust is suffering just a bit with
some heavy surface rust but remains buttoned up with no leaks.
Independent McPherson struts are reserved for all 4 corners of this
car in the suspension department, and power disc brakes are on all
4's as well.
Drive-Ability
Slipping inside this sporty yet very comfortable leather interior,
this car fired right up, and on the test track performed just
beautifully. Great acceleration, good handling and solid braking
all add up to a high performance 4 door family cruiser with some
surprises for a challenger should you happen upon one!
Overall a nice sporty 4 door sedan, plenty of power, and well
maintained. Nice red paint, wonderful comfy leather interior, and
with a press of the accelerator a smile will emerge from the
driver's face!
