For Sale: 1983 Chevrolet K-10 in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

This 1983 Chevrolet K10 is really nice 4x4 pickup, flat out. Nothing too radical, just a well-executed hauler that's been properly preserved and restored along the way, featuring a small block V8, some choice options, a sharp White paint job, and a comfortable A/C interior. This is simply a lot of vintage truck for the money.

You already know we love these trucks around our showroom and we probably sell more of them than just about anyone else. So, it makes sense that when a nice one shows up, everyone kind of takes notice. This pretty Frost White K10 has that rugged, square-jawed look that makes these trucks the latest and greatest collector-value haulers and the finish is really quite good. It's not so nice that you'll be afraid to hit the trails with it, but when you get home and hose it off, it'll look good enough to go out to dinner at a fancy restaurant that night. It makes quite the entrance but it's not too flashy, and if a tough American pickup can be elegant, this truck certainly nails it. The simple egg crate grille would become a stapple of the Square Body Chevy truck for years to come, and they left the middle accent strip Silver Metallic to pay homage to the original shade this truck first wore from the factory. Bright chrome bumpers with big bumper guards up front, a heavy-duty rear bumper, and oversized mirrors make it practical as well as attractive and you can tell just by looking in the dent-free bed that this truck has probably never had to very work for a living. Although if you do want to take home half of Home Depot with you, a spray-in bedliner was professionally installed to handle any potential abuse.

The black and charcoal interior is typical GM no-nonsense, with a wide bench seat, a handsome wrap-around dash, and plenty of creature comforts. There's a thick vinyl mat and floor mats on the floor and although the charcoal seat cover shows some minor signs of use on the driver's side bottom, the dash pad and door panels appear to be brand new, with no cracks caused by UV damage like. The gauges are also original and monitor all the engine's vitals, all surrounded by a blacked-out gauge bezel, while the bottom part of the dash was painted to match the exterior finish. Options include A/C that still blows cold, shoulder-harness seatbelts, power steering and brakes, a removable center console with cup holders, a gun rack mounted to the roof, and a modern retro-style AM/FM radio in the center of the dash. Heavy-duty floor mats are a welcome site if you plan on heading into the dirt, and the thick steering wheel and column shifter feel great in the hands of the driver both on and off road. The transmission shifter is on the column, but as usual, the 4x4 system is actuated by the floor-mounted transfer case shifter, which also works like it should, and the rear glass includes a sliding window when the A/C is not needed.

For power, this Chevy relies on a tried-and-true 5.0L cubic inch V8. It's fairly stock, so reliability is not compromised and it still starts and drives pretty much like the factory intended, although the upgraded carburetor probably adds a little extra punch. The engine bay is relatively clean, suggesting that this truck has never really ventured too far off-road, and it's been lightly dressed up with black Chevrolet valve covers and a chrome Edelbrock open-element air cleaner. Underneath the truck shows off just how solid it really is, and it sits high enough to climb over boulders without hurting anything vital underneath. The transmission is a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive, so it's actually reasonable on the highway, and the two-speed transfer case and heavy-duty axles make it invincible in the slippery stuff. An original-style exhaust system still manages to give it an awesome V8 soundtrack, and those factory Rally wheels with giant 32x11.5x15 Mickey Thompson radials look exactly right.

Nothing radical here, just a nicely finished truck with some smart, well-executed upgrades. If your tastes run more towards playing in the dirt, then this Chevy deserves a closer look. Call today!
