Vehicle Description
Buick didn't invent the idea of luxury muscle, but the GS certainly
defined the breed. This 1969 Buick GS400 convertible delivers on
Buick's unique blend of performance and panache with a premium
golden glow, cold-blowing A/C interior, and big and powerful V8
heart.
That factory-correct Trumpet Gold sets the tone nicely for this
one. It's the more sophisticated hue that you want in a car like
this. After all, the GS was the top-of-the-line Skylark, and so it
deserves some flair. Plus, the color was updated later in life.
It's a mix of a good luster that lets this sunshine-friendly
convertible radiate, but it also won't ever make you too nervous to
enjoy. And when you do take it out on the town, the crisp
sheetmetal shows off the distinct style of the sharply pointed
front end, sweeping line that runs through the doors, and the sleek
rear that almost seamlessly dips low into the shining chrome
bumper. So it really gets the sophisticated Buick look correct. And
the GS side offers sporty upgrades like the blacked-out grille, a
low-profile hood scoop, and Rallye wheels with new redline
tires.
Black and gold are a terrific combination. So not only do you get a
great-fitting black roof, but with the flip of a switch, it powers
down to reveal a sharp black interior. Newer upholstery, good
carpeting, awesome door panels, a smooth dash, and more all give
you a quality feeling in the fundamentals. So it's quite an
attractive and dark total presentation. It has a nice classic
driver feel with the three-spoke sports steering wheel and a
speedometer as wide as the horizon. But what you'll really love are
the well-integrated upgrades. There's a retro-style AM/FM/iPod
stereo that gives you upgraded driving music. And top down driving
is always more fun when the factory air conditioning is upgraded to
cold-blowing R134a refrigerant.
Under the hood is a period-correct 400 cubic-inch V8. It was
rebuilt as part of the later investments in this car, and those who
know Buicks will spot all the right details. It's dressed correctly
with the correct GS 400 air grabber, and there's even the correct
bright red block radiating power from within the dark engine bay.
And we just know you love how the hood scoop feeds fresh air
directly to the four-barrel carburetor. The mighty motor exhales
with a dignified authority out of the dual exhaust. The V8 has
serious power that made these Buicks a force to be reckoned with.
And so the ideal pairing is the TH400 three-speed automatic
transmission that is both stout and smooth. This feeds a 12-bolt
rear end. Add that to more great driving features like power
steering, power brakes w/discs up front, boxed rear trailing arms,
and thick sway bars front & rear.
This is a premium drop-top muscle machine with all the right
features already installed. So when it's time for the premium
muscle car experience, it's time to step up to this GS. Call
