Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this remarkably original and
unmolested 1987 Land Rover Defender 110 County. This is an
unusually well-documented example with complete ownership and
service history to new. Purchased by a physician in Nottingham,
this 110 remained with its original owner until 2015 and has just
under 94,000 original miles. It was imported to the U.S. last year
and is sold on a clean and clear Georgia title. Fitted with the 3.5
liter gasoline-powered Rover V8, it's a nice change of pace from
the Diesel-powered trucks we typically find.
Finished in Bronze Green, this Land Rover was ordered in the
upmarket "County" trim which featured custom graphics and an
upgraded interior. Carpets, tweed seat upholstery and headliner
remain in excellent original condition. The body is consistent with
what you expect from a life lived in the damp English countryside -
plenty of patina and light skin corrosion but major rot or
structural issues have been kept largely at bay (the rearmost frame
section has been replaced with galvanized steel). You always know a
car or truck has been well-cared-for if it's running Michelins...
This one has great-looking skinny Michelin truck tires on steel
wheels in good condition.
Most of the imported Defenders we see don't have much in the way of
service records (not to mention ownership or mileage documentation)
so it can be difficult to ascertain the true mileage or mechanical
state. This one includes the original sales invoice, stamped
service book, plus decades' worth of MOT certificates and shop
tickets. It runs and drives well but the twin SU carburetors could
stand some additional tuning (it runs great with the choke pulled
halfway out but doesn't like to idle with the choke all the way in,
even when warm).
You won't find one with better history or a better original
interior, and we find the patina charming - and offered at an
approachable price point. For more information about this 1987 Land
