Beauty, distinction, and an overall passion - this 1962 Austin
Healey 3000 Mark II BT7 roadster that reminds us why the best from
Europe always gives us a hunger for the open road.
Those who know their Healey cars also know this is a very distinct
model. It was the beginning run of the 3000-series that had the
larger engine, and still kept its lightweight European
sensibilities. The red paint is part of an older respray, but when
you pay for quality, the shine lasts. Not only does it have a good
luster, but also the aggressive red highlights some of the best
curves in the profile. Another distinctive part of the Big Healey
is the brightwork. There's intricate detailing on the wraparound
bumpers, full trim package, and distinct MkI grille. It has so much
British-based class that it even has genuine knock-off hubs for the
wire wheels.
Inside is more of what you love about an English roadster. It's an
intimate atmosphere with body-hugging bucket seats. Those who like
the purist experience look for the BT7 model, because it has the
lightweight doors, and it doesn't carry the roof or metal frame. It
makes for a nimbler machine. There is a rear seat, but it's more
useful for cargo than adult-sized passengers. Even the trunk is
done right with a spare wire wheel and correct tools. The classic
steering wheel has that perfect sports car feeling. And beyond that
the dash has distinct white-faced Smiths gauges. In fact, this
setup is so complete, that even the dash-mounted overdrive toggle
is still in place and working.
The BT7 combined the lighter features with the largest displacement
motor of the series. This is an era-correct 2,912cc inline six.
MkII cars like this also have a triple set of SU carbs. It fires up
nicely, and you'll love the tune you get from the side exit
exhaust. You get full control over the power and the soundtrack
thanks to the four-speed manual transmission - and don't forget
about that overdrive for longer distances. Plus, the nimble
handling and front disc brakes make this a great any time road
companion.
Complete with the service manuals, this is classic British motoring
at its best. When you're ready to enjoy the drive, you're ready for
this Austin Healey. Call today!!!
