Vehicle Description
This 1951 Chevrolet 3100 Deluxe 5-window show truck is the result
of a professional, no-expense-spared, two-year custom build by
famed Sterling Customs Hot Rod Shop in Blue Ridge, GA. The project
began with the fabrication of a custom frame, which was fitted with
a C6 Corvette suspension and RideTech coilovers. It is powered by a
C6 Corvette drivetrain comprised of a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine with
a rear-mounted 6-speed automatic transmission and transaxle. The
all-steel body and bed received numerous modifications and custom
features. All body joints were welded and smoothed or fitted
without welding. The bed was extended and contoured, stake pockets
and bed rails were closed, the front pockets were repositioned for
symmetry and wheel tubs were added. Running boards were contoured
and smoothed, and stainless-steel strips were added. It is finished
with 20 coats of paint, including base coats, gold metal flake,
custom-mixed red color coats and clear coats. Finally, the bed was
fitted with a clear Lexan floor to allow for viewing of the C6
driveline. The interior was done by the well-known Pro Auto Custom
Interiors in Knoxville, TN, where Steve Holcomb designed and
created a custom interior with leather seats, custom console and
headliner and many other custom touches. The truck also features
power steering, power windows and air conditioning.
