The combination of the classic Coke-bottle shape, and having been
finished in a bright paint color make this awesome 442 a
head-turner. Known for power and good looks, the 442's are coveted
among collectors. This particular car is a true 442 that would make
a great addition to any muscle car collector's garage. Finished in
the factory original Flame Orange (code 65) with white pin-stripes
and body colored Super Stock wheels. It's a great looking car which
offers a 455ci V8 under the hood, which is a period correct 455ci
V8, the current engine is not numbers matching. 442 specific front
grilles, hood louvers, and contrasting pinstripes set this car
apart from the other Cutlass trims that were available at the time.
Bright Flame Orange paint (code 65) is the original color that this
car left the factory wearing, although the car was repainted at
some point. The paint shows well - it's even, glossy, and bright.
The chrome bumpers on both ends of the car are in very nice
condition and all trim shows well. Inside the car, black carpeting
really makes the white seats (code 977) and matching door panels
pop. The interior does show some age in a few areas, although what
we have noticed are a few cosmetic blemishes. It looks as though
the previous owners enjoyed the car with the top down most of the
time, as the carpeting and door trim is faded. We can't blame them
for having the top down, the car looks great as a drop-top, and the
top being down gives passengers the chance to really enjoy the
sound of the V8 that's under the hood. The interior features bucket
seats, 4-spoke steering wheel, center console, a Dual-Gate shifter,
wood veneer trim, power windows, power top, the original radio, and
clock. Under the hood is a 455ci V8 which is period correct,
although not original to the car. (Engine Cast #396021F = 1968-72
455ci V8) According to the build sheet, this car rolled out of the
Lansing Assembly Plant with a 455ci V8 under the hood. The 455
features an Edelbrock 4bbl Carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold,
and is finished in Oldsmobile Blue Metallic paint. Power steering,
power brakes, and factory a/c are other notable items under the
hood. Finished in the factory correct color combination, this true
442 is an awesome car for any muscle car enthusiast to consider.
