Vehicle Description
The Dodge Charger Daytona debuted during the 1969 NASCAR season.
This Daytona was a homologation special, created only to legalize
their aerodynamic shapes for NASCAR competition. They were built to
dominate on the sanctioning body's superspeedways - Daytona and the
newly constructed, 2.66-mile Talladega International Motor Speedway
with its 33-degree banking. There were less than 599 Daytonas
built. This car is one of the 385 440 Magnum-powered cars produced
for U.S. shipment. This 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is powered by a
440/375hp Magnum engine paired with the famous Chrysler TorqueFlite
heavy-duty 3-speed automatic transmission, which delivers the power
to the Chrysler 8.75 axle with the A36 performance package that
includes a 3.55:1 axle ratio, Sure-Grip differential and power
steering cooler. This vehicle had a scheduled production date of
June 6, 1969, at the Hamtramck assembly plant and was then shipped
to Creative Industries in Detroit, MI, to be finished, where it was
fitted with an aerodynamic nose cone, cast aluminum 58-inch-wide
rear wing, rear flush-mount rear window and other unique items. It
was then shipped to May Avenue Dodge, Oklahoma City, OK, where it
was sold with order awaiting delivery. This A11/A36 special model
XX29 was ordered in Spring Green with the aerodynamic package,
which includes a unique front nose, special windshield moldings,
fender-mounted vents and a rear-mounted spoiler finished in white
to match the Daytona stripe. Its features include the A01 light
package, hood-mounted turn signals, N65 Maximum cooling package
with 26-inch high-capacity radiator and 7-blade Torque drive fan,
power disc brakes, power steering with cooler and F70x14 tires. The
suspension package was the famous S15 HEMI suspension, which
included front sway bar, HEMI torsion bars and HEMI leaf springs.
The interior features Rallye gauges, green vinyl bucket seats with
headrests and center console with wood-grain top. Stored in a
climate-controlled garage, it includes its original spare and trunk
lining and has never been driven on the highway since its
restoration. A Dave Wise report is included. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
