Vehicle Description
The Ford GT began life as a concept car designed in anticipation of
Ford Motor Company's centennial year. It is a mid-engine,
two-seater sports car whose design was inspired by the GT40 racing
cars of the 1960s. Many new and unique technologies were used in
the production of this car, including superplastic-formed frame,
aluminum body panels, a "ship-in-a-bottle" gas tank, a capless fuel
filler system and an aluminum engine cover with a one-piece
carbon-fiber inner panel. A Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission is
mated to a mid-mounted 5.4-liter modular V8 engine with a Lysholm
twin screw-type supercharger and a forged rotating assembly housed
in an aluminum block designed specifically for the GT program. This
2006 example is finished in Performance White with blue stripes and
features a smaller pulley for a total output of 660hp. The GT has
been driven 10,431 actual miles. From the Larry Winkler Collection.
