This matching-numbers 1968 Shelby GT500KR #03205 is painted in the
Lime Gold with a Saddle bucket seat interior. Powered by a 428ci
Cobra Jet engine paired to a C6 3-speed automatic transmission with
a shift kit, this Shelby received a no-expense-spared restoration
in 2019 that was meticulously detailed. This KR has had the same
owner since 1979, has only 86,543 actual miles (mileage not
indicated on the ownership documents), and is in the Shelby
Registry. This GT500KR is loaded with all Shelby deluxe options,
including shoulder harness, GT equipment group, visibility group,
sport deck fold-down rear seat, automatic tilt-away steering wheel,
dash tachometer with 140 mph speedometer, interior decor group,
original floor mats, Philco AM radio, 9-inch differential with
11-spline axles and Lucas driving lights. This vehicle also has the
10-spoke wheels, Goodyear tires, power steering and power disc
brakes. All parts are original-restored or period-correct,
including the all-rebuilt assemblies, new fuel lines, brake lines,
hoses, seals and bearings, and AMK fasteners. The rear differential
and center section transmission, mounts and cables are original.
This GT500KR includes its original owner's manual signed by Carrol
Shelby, framed Deluxe Marti Report, British Columbia collector's
plates and the four original 10-spoke wheels. It won the Best in
Show Award at a regional Ford meet. Of the 4,451 1968 Shelbys
produced, 1,571 were GT500 KRs. 1,053 of those were fastbacks, 523
came with automatic transmissions, 83 were painted Lime Gold, 17
had Saddle bucket seats, of them, 10 came with Traction-Lok rear
axles, and two were shipped to Canada to the same dealer. This is
one of those Shelbys.
