For 1966 the Chevelle sported a completely redesigned body and
interior. The results were a sleek, muscular shape that was an
instant hit. Typical for Chevelle, the aggressive bodywork covered
the potent engine underneath. The power plant of this 1966 Chevelle
Super Sport is the legendary 396ci big-block V8 engine that
produces 375hp. With its matching-numbers engine mated to the
close-ratio Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission and 3.73
posi-traction rear axle, this Chevelle Super Sport is all about
performance. The dual exhaust sounds great and the power steering
keeps the dog-dish-hubcapped wheels on red line radial tires
pointed in the right direction. On the exterior, the Onyx Black
paint, professionally rechromed bumpers and new trim are all in
great condition. Inside the cabin of this black-on-black Super
Sport is a black bucket seat interior equipped with a center
console that houses the Hurst 4-speed shifter and famous
"knee-knocker" tachometer. From top to bottom, this Chevelle SS has
every detail carefully worked out and performs just as good as it
looks. Nearly every part system of the Chevelle was carefully
refurbished or replaced, including the fully rebuilt drivetrain,
suspension and carburetor. All-new ignition, brakes, shocks,
exhaust, wiring harnesses, gauges and heater core round out the
restoration. Inside the cabin the renovation yielded new dash,
trim, headliner, door panels, carpet, weatherstripping, seals and
full seat upholstery in the front and rear. From the Raser
Collection.
