Vehicle Description
Built with all-original Shelby parts, this 1969 GT500 re-creation
began life as a 4-speed-equipped '69 Mustang Mach-1 M-Code. Power
currently comes from a 428ci V8 engine fed by a Holley Demon 850
carburetor and fitted with aluminum heads. Power is sent to the
rear wheels via a Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and on to a
Ford 9-inch rear end fitted with 3.73 gears and 31-spline axles.
The GT500 rides on a set of Obsidian CoupeR Mustang wheels and uses
a set of Baer brakes for stopping power. The massive drilled and
slotted rotors measure 13 inches up front and 12.5 inches at the
rear. The powerful braking system works in tandem with Global West
Suspension, Truetrac and rack & pinion steering. The exterior is
finished in custom two-tone copper over black paint. Inside, the
GT500 features a carbon-fiber Shelby dashboard, Kenwood audio
system, custom carbon-fiber racing seats wrapped in Milano Italian
leather and Shelby roll bar. From the Larry Winkler Collection.
