Vehicle Description
The Panhead came out with numerous improvements in 1959 such as
self-adjusting hydraulic lifters. The suspension features
hydraulically dampened telescoping forks replacing the outdated
Springer suspension found on previous models. Harley-Davidson also
created a new rear swing arm frame with coilover shock suspension,
thus changing the name from Hydra-Glide to Duo-Glide. This example
is powered by a 74ci overhead valve V-twin engine mated to a manual
transmission. From the Larry Winkler Collection.
