This 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible is vintage, fun, and
extra stylish. That's why it makes for a terrific drop-top classic
when offered for such an obtainable price.
This was the first-year for the Super Beetle, and so it's a true
classic that offers German build quality with updated versatility.
In fact, it's one of the few years that gives you the improvements
in the design while still keeping the classic windshield profile.
Of course, that's not the only distinctive part of this VW. It has
a nice shade of yellow that has a cheery look and will harmonize
with the landscape on any sunset adventures. And the fresh canvas
roof is done in a distinct tan to give this Beetle a unique and
sophisticated style.
The interior is a thoughtful and vintage presentation. The tan door
cards have the same stylish presentation against the creamy yellow
as we saw on the roof color. And the tweed-like seat covers
coordinate with all of this while also keeping a button-top look on
the bucket seats. You get the classic features you love, like the
single VDO gauge and the thin/grippy steering wheel with Wolfsburg
center cap. Plus, there's an upgraded feel with premium pieces,
like the coco mats, modern speakers, and an AM/FM/CD stereo with
modern Bluetooth.
This was also the debut year for the 1600cc motor - the largest in
the series. It looks well-maintained everywhere from the hoses to
the Solex carb. It loves to run while giving that hypnotic
air-cooled hum. In fact, this one was truly built to be a drive.
The Super Beetle revived a better MacPherson strut front
suspension, and this also has front disc brakes. VW fans know this
is still not a speed machine, but the with a hardy motor, sharper
handling, and the control of the four-speed manual transmission all
come together for quite a nice driving classic.
A distinct style, great features and timeless appeal all come
together in this first-year Super Beetle. Time to chase the sunset
in this drop-top VW. Call today!!!
