For Sale: 1998 Porsche Boxster in Charlton, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

Working out final details but this car is sold. It may be the 25th anniversary of the Boxster but the time has come to part with mine. I purchased it new back in 1998 and drove it only on sunny summer Sunday's, it's never been driven in the rain. Yes it really only has 10k miles on it, not a single rattle, feels like a new car. It's ocean blue which is a dark blue with tan interior and it has the sport touring package. I took delivery of the car and pulled off the stock wheels and tires and installed a set of the same Speedline wheels that were on the Boxster prototype. The Porsche dealer that I purchased the car from has been my one point for service and since it's not been driven now all winter it just received it's yearly checkup, oil and filters changed and made ready for the summer. This was a $52k car back in 1998 and I would like to think it's worth about $20k today, to the right person. Spring has finally arrived and after a year of being inside, just think of a top down ride through the countryside in this beauty. Let's address the elephant in the room, the IMS bearing...this car was built in Stuttgart late in 1997 as an early 1998 vehicle. It therefore has the better sealed dual row IMS bearing which has only a 1% failure rate which is far better than the single row bearing that Porsche moved to duing the 2000 model year which has an 8% failure rate and is the topic of all the discussion..  I asked my Porsche dealer to confirm that this car has the dual row bearing and they confirmed that it does. That information added to the super low miles on the car, how I know I drive it and that I changed the oil yearly with Mobil One I would sit tight and wait for some other large maintenance item and add the IMS bearing replacement to that. Other than the wheels and tires this car is a factory fresh original with zero mods, I wanted to keep it as close to original as I could but the factory stock 17" wheels (even with the sport package) were just ugly. I felt that going with the Speedline wheels not only got me the look and stance (staggered wheels) that I wanted but because they were the prototype wheels it kept it kinda original, plus used Boxster wheels are easily available if you are a die hard original person.
