Vehicle Description
When the weather gets warm, dreams of cruising down the highway in
a jaw-dropping classic are inevitable. Linger on that thought a
little longer and the sound of a small block V8 comes to mind
coupled with images of an old school dash. We'll let you fill in
the details from there but, if you like where we were going, have a
look at this incredible Chevy Impala. Backing a powerful LS7 with a
smooth 4L80E automatic transmission, an athletic Art Morrison
chassis and show-stopping aesthetics, this dreamy drop-top has been
drawing stares ever since it rolled into our showroom. And if
you're ready to feel the summer breeze behind the wheel of a
unique, world-class custom, it's a chance to turn your dreams into
reality!
REVERIE BECOMES REALITY
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that spared
absolutely no expense, this stunning Chevy features legendary,
all-American aesthetics that mix a roster of traditional accents
with glossy, wet-looking two-stage paint. That pigment celebrates a
solid Jet Age profile that's been carefully massaged to precise
uniformity. And it all adds up to one lights-out classic that's
competent, comfortable and poised to turn heads!
Back in 1959, Chevrolet's newly anointed line topper certainly did
its fair share to pad the polishing industry. And today, every bit
of this Impala's intrepid icing has been returned to a
glare-inducing shine. At the front of the car, a prominent grille
hangs old school halogen headlights between clear parking lamps,
retro hood screens and a wide bumper. Above that grille, a bold
"CHEVROLET" script joins a familiar "V" and familiar cross-flags to
lead a long hood that's framed by jet-inspired fender toppers.
Those toppers shoot away from GM's legendary compound windshield,
which tilts polished stainless trim between a cloth top and
polished stainless wipers. At the sides of that glass, traditional
mirrors join traditional door handles to reflect expressive wings,
which parallel clean rocker guards and expressive Impala trim
spears. And those wings center a vivid Chevrolet crest over ornate
taillights and a second wide bumper.
USA-1
Toss the car's long hood and you'll find a hot 7.0L LS7 V8 that
looks ALMOST as good as it runs! GM Powertrain invested a great
deal of time and research into getting the most out of its Gen IV
V8, and it definitely shows. Changes started with a 20% stronger
casting, featuring an increased bore of 103.25 millimeters. Focus
then shifted to flow efficiency, resulting in the use of an all-new
intake manifold and L92 rectangle-port heads that boast upgraded
valvetrains. Factor in a new piston design, LS7 injectors and a
more aggressive cam, and you get one very potent commuter that, in
its most basic form, creates 505 SAE-certified horsepower. At the
front of the block, a conical Spectre filter element funnels wind
into a polished Spectre air tube, which feeds a factory throttle
body. At the sides of the block, coated, long-tube headers split
short, factory-spec wires. At the front of those tubes, polished
pulleys spin a polished alternator and a polished AC compressor
above modern power steering. In front of those pulleys, a polished
Performance Rod & Custom radiator swirls coolant around a polished
expansion tank and a big puller fan. Details like a trusty Wilwood
master cylinder and a trick, 409-style engine cowl ensure the mill
maintains first-class presentation. And all that glitz is framed in
glossy, color-keyed fenders and a smooth, body-matched
firewall.
TECHNOLOGY IN MOTION
Park this Chevy on a lift and you'll find a super clean
undercarriage that's been prepped, primped and polished to match
the car's slick powerplant and stunning exterior. The well-mannered
motor spins a beefy 4L80E 4-speed automatic, which twists torque to
a braced and finished 9in rear axle. That pumpkin is an integral
part of a sturdy Art Morrison chassis, which props tubular control
arms on adjustable coil-over-shocks. Modern power rack-and-pinion
steering provides tracking. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to 4 and
6-piston Wilwoods, which squeeze a quartet of huge drilled and
slotted rotors. Large-diameter exhaust pipes spent gases through
throaty Magnaflow mufflers. Brushed Schott Challenger EXL wheels
throw torque through 255/45ZR18 and 295/35ZR20 Nitto NT555 tires.
And everything, from the car's polished floors to its fresh fuel
tank, is well planned, exceptionally executed and ready to
roll!
CUSTOM AND COOL
Open this Impala's doors and you'll find literal feet of custom
leather that's ready for boulevards or beaches! Top dead center, a
color-keyed dash frames slick Classic Instruments telemetry and
modern, direct-fit audio. Modern buckets frame a custom,
full-length console that balances a booted Lokar shifter between
controls for power windows and controls for Vintage Air
conditioning. Crisp California Carpet floats piped and color-keyed
floor mats beneath sculpted side panels. The driver spins a
polished and half-wrapped wheel around a polished, tilting column.
And the passengers stow essentials in a giant, leather-lined
trunk.
So, there you have it: an incredible looking Chevy that wraps an
incredible drivetrain in a capable chassis and comfortable
interior. Seldom do you find a well-done, non-kustom classic that's
infused with this much street rod swagger. Think about it:
effortless Chevrolet power, a proven Chevrolet drivetrain, a choice
Art Morrison chassis and plenty of outstanding visual sizzle. No
serious hot rodder would pass on an opportunity like this!
